The title of the thread could be the title of Charles Aznavour song set in a sordid Parisien cafe

If i had to choose 4 of them to play today it would be Owen, Morientes, Anelka and Sinama. I thought Owen and Anelka played very well together in 2002.

The Fowler of 10 years ago was some player but that's long gone. Anyone thinking he's anything more than a back-up player now is delusional.

Well, it seems there is actually some common-sense flying around instead of this starry-eyed nonsense that assumes he will be anything near the player he was in the mid to late nineties. I seriously cannot believe so many people have included Fowler in their chosen four.

Has to be Baros, Morientes, Crouch and Owen for me.

I'm praying that we can somehow get that little judas, short-a*se back home in the summer and maybe dupe Feyenoord into selling us Kuijt for less than buttons. Otherwise we are gonna have a long wait for the title challenge. :(

Can't believe some people are saying Heskey! Short memories indeed.

Me neither, has to be the worst striker [given a run of games] that I've seen in 40 years of supporting the Reds, although Cisse is in danger of taking the title!!

It seems like the popular choice, but...

Owen is Owen, Anelka for the all round game he possesses (plus IMO he impressed when he was here), Crouch for me is the better player between him and Heskey, and Robbie offers the natural striker's instincts.

Probably the most important factor is probably all four of them can play together (including Fowler+Owen) and each combination gives a slight variation in strengths. Followed by the fact that all four are intelligent footballers and are good (to excellent) on the ball as well as off it.
