Guest Kev Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 FowlerOwenBarosHeskeyCrouchCisseMorientesMellorSinama-PongolleAnelka Pick four from the above list for your squad today. Owen, Baros, Heskey and Fowler for me.
lawrie Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 OwenBaros AnelkaFowler now/Sinama-Pongolle later
Andy Mac Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 The title of the thread could be the title of Charles Aznavour song set in a sordid Parisien cafe "zee strikers ve have sold and signed" Paris in May.... what a thought !!!
Big E Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 OwenCrouchFowlerAnelka That's the set for me. good variety in there
diaspora Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 FowlerOwenAneklaHeskey They'd do for me out of the list on show.
Falconhoof Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Fowler & Owen are the only ones with a strike record to be proud of in this league. 2 new forwards in the summer.
Ian Brown Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Can't believe some people are saying Heskey! Short memories indeed. Crouch, Owen, Fowler, Anelka for me. Baros not far behind.
Earl Hafler Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 (edited) If i had to choose 4 of them to play today it would be Owen, Morientes, Anelka and Sinama. I thought Owen and Anelka played very well together in 2002. The Fowler of 10 years ago was some player but that's long gone. Anyone thinking he's anything more than a back-up player now is delusional. Edited February 5, 2006 by Big Stuff
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Can't believe some people are saying Heskey! Short memories indeed. We need someone to blame when we hit a bad run
Spike Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Kev, we have what we have. We can point to the past for sure but it won't resolve owt.
_00_deathscar Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 OwenFowlerMorientesAnelka (if all players are on form and playing at full potential)
Lee W Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 The Fowler of 10 years ago was some player but that's long gone. Anyone thinking he's anything more than a back-up player now is delusional. Well, it seems there is actually some common-sense flying around instead of this starry-eyed nonsense that assumes he will be anything near the player he was in the mid to late nineties. I seriously cannot believe so many people have included Fowler in their chosen four. Has to be Baros, Morientes, Crouch and Owen for me. I'm praying that we can somehow get that little judas, short-a*se back home in the summer and maybe dupe Feyenoord into selling us Kuijt for less than buttons. Otherwise we are gonna have a long wait for the title challenge.
floyd the barber Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 strange question... anyway owen, crouch, anelka and......ermmmm fowler
anfield11 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Can't believe some people are saying Heskey! Short memories indeed. Me neither, has to be the worst striker [given a run of games] that I've seen in 40 years of supporting the Reds, although Cisse is in danger of taking the title!!
abc Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 It seems like the popular choice, but... Owen is Owen, Anelka for the all round game he possesses (plus IMO he impressed when he was here), Crouch for me is the better player between him and Heskey, and Robbie offers the natural striker's instincts. Probably the most important factor is probably all four of them can play together (including Fowler+Owen) and each combination gives a slight variation in strengths. Followed by the fact that all four are intelligent footballers and are good (to excellent) on the ball as well as off it.
