Guest Les Howard Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 So long as we stick to 4-4-2 - I'd have to go with Crouch and Cisse. I know Djibs was desparately poor against ManU the other week but his pace should hopefully keep the Chavs defence deeper, so allowing a little more space in midfield for us to get hold of the game. Any other combination of Crouch, Moro and Fowler will allow them to squeeze up and try and pen us in. All this is just my opinion of course. Is there an arguement for another pairing - maybe one that doesn't involve Crouch?
Guest neil34 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I'd like to see Gerrard playing off Crouch tomorrow with Sissoko/Xabi central and Kewell and Garcia on the flanks. We have to take the game to them tomorrow..... That's my guess to what will happen too

Cooldude Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Crouch with either Luis or Stevie playing off him
McBain Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I'm not eager to see any of them upfront for different reasons but i'd probably go with Fowler and Cisse. We need pace on the counter attack and Djibril is the only one who has it I think Rafa will go for 5 in midfield and Crouch on his own though
Andy-oh-six Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I've got a feeling Rafa might go with Kewell 'in the hole' behind Crouch with JAR pushed into left side midfield.
monkey puzzle Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I'd put my house on us playing 5 in midfield tomorrow with Crouch up front.
ricflairandy Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Although not overly kean on it, id put cise on the right and garcia or gerrard behind crouch. Cisse on the right would keep makalele and duff or robben back
uppsala Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Crouch laying off balls for Robbie to knock in.
Earl Hafler Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Kewell playing off Crouch / Morientes with Riise and Gerrard wide.
David Hodgson Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I think Rafa will gamble and start with Fowler. Chelsea know so much about us that we'll need to throw 'em a curve ball. Crouch and Fowler sounds sensible, but I've a hunch he could go for Robbie with Cisse. Fowler will drop deeper more effectively than any of our existing forwards, and can add numbers in midfield.
Guest BigChief Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Crouch laying off balls for Robbie to knock in. Ah, the spirit of Heskey and Owen lives on.
RedMarauder Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Whilst he'd love to start Fowler, it will not happen in a million years, as he is not fit enough.. Cisse would be less of a risk against lesser opposition, but it is more likely to be Kewell or Garcia playing off Crouch or give Moro another shot.

Cisse was brilliant against them at home in the champs league. One of the few realy good games hes had for us.
Guest jarkop1 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Fowler and Morientes for me if 4-4-2, if not Crouch with Garcia just off.
abuusayd Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Will tactics change depending on the MANURE result?
ricflairandy Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Will tactics change depending on the MANURE result? doubt it, despite what rafa says, he wont give up on the title untill its mathamaticly impossible, and id be gutted if he did.
RedHarvest Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 My guess is Crouch with Luis behind him, Stevie on the right, Harry K on the left.Gonna have a punt on Luis to be Chelseas nemesis again with 1st goal.
Eiler99 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I would like to see Morientes and Garcia, but I think Crouch will start with Mori. Which is fine. Fowler will get the last 20 minutes probably.
Guest Red Mist Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Anyone but Cisse. Against quick and strong defences he is easily neutralised. I would go with Crouch and Robbie. We need guile and craft, not pace and power, if we are to undo Chelsea. Select Robbie please Rafa, and God shall strike the chavs down.
realtarragona Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Crouch and Fowler. If you've watched the last few games you couldn't possibly want Morientes to start and as 'Red Mist' said, against quick defenders, Cissé does absolutely nothing most of the time (like against Ferdinand, for example).
