Jezzman Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Didn't know this before I read it on .tv, I though they weren't gonna get anymore...? Apparently they're only available to buy in the shops in Liverpool... http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/kits/
Guest Kev Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 You are basically buying a top for double the price because it comes in a fancy box with a photocopied letter.

slapnuts Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 aye its funny how they can get hold of more of them for £80 but not any more CL tops.
Internationinteroperability Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 The merchandise department of LFC really does stink!

People on here slate the club for not generating more revenue and now they're slagging the club for trying to generate more revenue.

Given the choice between 2,000 CL Shirts at £80 a pop or 4,000 CL shirts at £40 a pop. I know what I'd sanction.

I know what I'd sanction. The club have nothing to do with the CL shirt fiasco. Reebok won't make any more. From what I can gather the reason there are no more available is Reebok have to do a run of a certain amount to make it economically viable for them, they don't think they'll sell that amount of shirts and so will be left with a load of shirts and a huge loss. There is nothing Rick Parry or the club can do apart from hiring a crack squad of on-the-run Vietnam vets to force Reebok to do it. Of course £80 for that is a rip-off, but I guarantee they'll all sell out (They'd probably sell 20,000 if they were made available) a fool and his money are soon parted, if people want to pay that then let them. I really can't understand people being pissed off about it, largely because they're the same people who've been criticising our merchandising dept. for an age.

I will criticise this because £45 is a lot to pay for a shirt, but £80 is ridiculous regardless of how it is packaged. I agree they will sell out, but it's only rich fans that could afford it.

Of course 80 pounds is a horrible rip off but as Maldini very correctly says, this is exactly what people in the past have commented on, that the club does not exploit our Champ League success. But then when they do try generate cash/exploit the souvenir market etc, now there's complaints for that also. Who'd ever want to be a Parry in the midst of all that??? Just looking at that picture at the top though - they're not real champ league shirts? They have an extra liver bird in the middle? Edited February 4, 2006 by Lenin
Guest Murf Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Buy two, sell one on ebay, treble your investment.

What about the rest of us ?
Guest roger Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Its just a shirt in a box. Just buy a mug or a hat if you dont want a shirt!

Of course the extremely expensive gift boxes will be sold, but I don't think it's fair to people who haven't got that kind of money. I won't compare a Liverpool CL shirt with everyday necessities but still, if a craved product wasn't available due to feck ups from the supplier but all of a sudden it became available at double price with some fancy wrapping, I bet you would feel scræwed too, don't you think? It's cool that more shirts have become available but the price really isn't fair. I think it sends out a wrong signal to the fans who didn't get the chance to buy the shirt in the first place. But no doubt, the extra shirts will be sold.
