ynwa.tv Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Double Agents Down Memory Lane Meet the Referee
Alonso Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Reina Finnan-Carragher-Hyypia-Riise Gerrard-Alonso-Sissoko-Kewell Garcia Crouch With the solid base of Momo and Xabi, Kewell, Gerrard and Garcia can all support Crouch and feed off his knock downs and lay offs. They are also all capable of playing anywhere across the pitch making it harder for them to be picked up. IMO this is where we'll get most joy from, breaking from midfield (until Robbie comes on!)
M4TTA Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 At least its not Poll or Riley reffing it. or uriah
Cisse Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Reina Finnan-Carragher-Hyypia-Riise Gerrard-Alonso-Sissoko-Kewell Garcia Crouch With the solid base of Momo and Xabi, Kewell, Gerrard and Garcia can all support Crouch and feed off his knock downs and lay offs. They are also all capable of playing anywhere across the pitch making it harder for them to be picked up. IMO this is where we'll get most joy from, breaking from midfield (until Robbie comes on!) You're right, but maybe Cisse will play wide right and Gerrard in the hole (until Robbie comes on !)
Alonso Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 You're right, but maybe Cisse will play wide right and Gerrard in the hole (until Robbie comes on !)I think Cisse will be more effective from the bench as if Chelsea are chasing the game we could utilise his pace to get in behind them. Also we need to keep things tight and keep possession and those are certainly not Cisse's attributes! Finnan would be too exposed as well.
Guest AnfieldGrass Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I'm expecting Traore to play again. Was thinking the same thing myself: ReinaFinnan Carra Hyppia TraoreGerrard Sissoko Alonso Riise Kewell Crouch Momo really needs to show some class and maturity this game, and hope he doesn't end up on the RW
Earl Hafler Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 About time Gerrard put in a big game against them aswell.
Guest Carragold Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Oh god no Troare must not play, Riise and Kewell are fine where they are.And I reckon we should just go for the jugular Crouch and Fowler, they are expecting us to just play Crouch upfront and hit long balls to him, lets suprise them. And let them worry about us and attack them from everywhere.
Guest Kev Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 My PMT is totally non existant. I am expecting nothing but a defeat today.
Guest Kev Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 I built myself up for the Manc game only to brought back down to earth, and the result on Wednesday has knocked any confidence I had for today.
beejay Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 The muppets on brekkie with jimmy hill actually thought we might nick it (ian ridley & matt dickinson) then that senile old git decided it was funny to suggest that chelsea might get beat. We will go with our usual game plan against chelsea. Make sure they don't get space out wide so have to come through the middle where they are nowhere near as effective. I can definitely see us playing crouch & cisse with gerrard on the right and sissoko with xabi in the centre. Neutralise their attack and make them go long ball again. Their pitch is truly awful, particularly through the middle so it will not be a classic. I guess you would have to settle for a point but IF we did sneak a win, we might just be back with a very outside chance of the title. A Villa mate of mine said they were p*ss poor midweek so maybe, just maybe there's some life left in this season.
Cisse Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 What about trying this: ---------Reina----------Carra--Sami--AggerFinnan-Momo-Xabi---JAR----Stevie----Kewell--------Crouch----------
CaptainXabi Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 What about trying this: ---------Reina----------Carra--Sami--AggerFinnan-Momo-Xabi---JAR----Stevie----Kewell--------Crouch----------It wouldn't shock me to be honest, especially since Drogba isn't there to push Agger all over the place. No matter what though, I hope we don't play Traore. This isn't a Djimi-bashing thing, but by playing Kewell and Riise on the left, that makes Chelsea have to think twice about the right fullback. Or in other words, they'd probably want to put Gallas there instead of Glen Johnson (what happened to Ferreira these days?). But if they do that, Del Horno is left to handle Gerrard, which I think is beyond him. Either way, we have at least one favorable matchup.
Guest Kev Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 I can see us packing the midfield and using one striker upfront. A win ( ) today would only give us bragging rights. We are battling for 2nd place and those two points dropped on Wednesday could hurt us a lot in the long run.
Eiler99 Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Anyone else heard rumours that Fowler is not in the squad?
Cisse Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Wouldn't surprise me at all. Maybe Rafa thinks it's better for him to stay home working on his fitness to be ready next week than travel to London to play 15 mns.
fred milne Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Reina Finnan-Carragher-Hyypia-Riise Gerrard-Alonso-Sissoko-Kewell Garcia CrouchI'd probably go with Didi ahead of Momo for this one but otherwise a good side.
Guest major Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 (edited) confirmed team; Reina Finnan Hyypia Carragher Warnock Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Riise Kewell Crouch Subs: Dudek Cisse Garcia Morientes Traore Edited February 5, 2006 by major
redjersey Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 (edited) Warnock? Feck. Scares me to see him out there... Edited February 5, 2006 by Redjersey
Cisse Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Good team that is. I hope Warnock can play to hi sbest. Probably one of the keys to get something out of this game. Surprisingly lot of attacking options on the bench .
