Maldini Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 What was the story with all those random cups in the 80s, the Simod Cup and the Zenith Data systems cup, where they just an extra cup to make up for the loss of European football? What were the formats?
Gilps Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 What was the story with all those random cups in the 80s, the Simod Cup and the Zenith Data systems cup, where they just an extra cup to make up for the loss of European football? What were the formats? They were both sponsors names for the Full Members Cup, which was there to make up for the lack of European football. Open to the top two divisions but not taken remotely sertiously by anyone, except Everton. Oh and Reading, whose biggest achievement (for the time being at least) was beating Luton in the final in 1988. One of the blocks of executive appartments/starter homes on the site of the old Elm Park is called Simod House. Just accross the road from The Spread Eagle, where Robin Friday used to enjoy his several pre match pints with the home supporters.
MarkD Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Screen Sports Super Cup. Paul Walsh's finest tournament.
