Guest BigChief Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Garcia missed easy chances and Alonso scored an own goal and missed an open one at the other end. But with those two in the team we play SO much better football. Garcia out right and Kewell out left with Fowler up front will be deadly in the next couple of games, mark my words. Chelsea are in for a backlash from us. BRING 'EM ON!

Barnesy_10 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Garcia was utter s**** tonight... seriously.... everyone sat around me were restless every time he failed with his little flicks... so frustrating to watch, but you never know when he might pull something out of a hat and score a stunner... Morientes was hardly in the game apart from the assist to Gerrard... Kewell was my man of the match, especially in first half.
Guest BigChief Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) Fair enough you had a better view than me if you were actually at the game. But I just thought we play the long ball game when Garcia isn't available. With him in the side means Benitez has given him free rein to try his flicks to his hearts content, which also then implies that he wants the ball played to him and not hit long to Crouch all the time. Morientes also had a wicked understanding with Fowler, OK, he can't finish for pudding but at least he can help Fowler finish in future games. Crouch to me looked the most useless player as he had easier opportunities all night and squandered them unforgiveably. When the f*ck is a 6'7" striker going to score from a leaping header for us!?!?!?! Agreed, Kewell MOTM, easily. Edited February 2, 2006 by BigChief
Barnesy_10 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I know what you are saying regarding Garcia mate... though the long ball was very evident in the game even with him playing. Stevie was guilty of some poor passing early on but soon settled into his driven usual self. I just don't like that 90% of the chances we have on goal are ones in the air.. and Crouch isn't particularily good in the air and Morientes doesn't seem to get into particularily good positions. Our best player in the air is Garcia (apart from Sami) and he is never in the area to get onto the crosses.Kewell was incredible first half.... he looked really up for the game and out paced Melchiot numerous times... Agger took a little time to settle but soon did....The goal we conceded was careless.... 2 mins prior to it Reina made a stunning save from Heskey which lead to the corner which lead to the goal....Alonso was totally gutted and didn't deserve it... would have been made up so much if his free kick had gone in.
Guest Red Mist Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 We play prettier stuff with Garcia in the team - when his flicks come off. When they don't, we're often in trouble.Luis is such an enigma. We can't afford to leave him out because he's capable of the most brilliant things but he's such a frustrating little b*****d too, constantly giving the ball away and not scoring as often as he should.If/when we get a proper, decent right winger in the team, I'm not sure where that will leave Luis.
4411 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I dont think Garcia is good enough to play many consecutive 90 min games for Liverpool. I think he's better served to come off the bench when we need something special like when he came on against Bolton. Not knocking the player, just think he's too inconsistent to rely upon for 90 min.
Tetti Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 *peeks into thread, shuffles back out, quietly* almost... He has just come back from an extended injury too, guess there is no chance of giving the little man a bit of time
Spike Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 guess there is no chance of giving the little man a bit of time That's never worked with any lass I've known so it aint gonna work on here with Luis

The thing is your going to get that with him. Its like an improved version of Murphy. I'm happy with the fella at least he's trying to make something out of nothing. If it comes off he's a world beater ....if it doesn't he's a crap player. I can fathom that philosophy out sometimes ......but that's they the masses call it!
R A Softlad Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Sell Alonso! Apparently Rafa will entertain a bid of £11m from Real in the summer according to tomorrow's Mirror.

sammy knucklz Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 prolly been said elsewhere but, despite obviously being f***ed off with his own-goal & the points it lost us, i still was impressed & pleased to see xabi's response to it. no, not the hands over his face and the fall to his knees - his absolute f***ing determination to make up for it. his drive, sheer will, his free kick etc. and he very very nearly did it too. all in the space of 4-5 minutes. second only to ste in terms of the ability to make something happen through sheer will-power. so, yes, his passing still gives me a semi, and yes, i'm still a fully paid-up member of the xabi gay-in society
Owen1978 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Feel sorry for xabi, he just made the wrong decision, should have followed the Carra school of football method and just hooked it away, good thing about xabi he will learn from this, if this same situation arises again the watch that ball go into orbit!
Tetti Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 That's never worked with any lass I've known so it aint gonna work with Luis Fight you for him Being serious, its a rehashed debate, but I can put up with all the mistakes he makes for the flashes of genius that he produces.

He chested it badly towards the goal, but the main problem was that Reina wasn?t getting to it even if xabi had left it, and no matter where Xabi chested it, Reina had decided to follow the ball and not anticipate the chest down. Even if Xabi had chested across goal, Reina would have been miles away and it would have been a free for all in the box. Reina doesn?t inspire me with confidence.

Alonso's error not Reina's

mattster Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Garcia is a frustrating, yet talented player, but not good enough for the first 11 in my opinionMorientes is painfully slow and can't operate in the prem, but you've got to admire his workrateReina - the players rate him highly, so that's good enough for meAlonso - Quality, although he hasn't been playing to his full potential this season
boohog Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Fook me the Specials were right IT WAS XABI's MISTAKE I think they both cocked up actually. Reina should have read it and Xabi should have chested down rather than into the goal.
