Guest KD2OO4 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I have to admit I miss the floor sleeper Igor Biscan. He had it rough during the early stages of his contract, played out of position etc..... What a difference a manager makes.......Rafa had him performing to a good level. To the point of being a capable stand in midfield. Strangley always looked better when Stevie G wasnt in the team. A great professional with a great attitude, never once did he moan about his plight. When given the opportunity to leave early he opted to stay on and help out the club. Full respect. I just miss having him around
Case Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Alec Lindsay. That straight-backed run, Hair like a docker. Shot like a rocket. Can still see his dissalowed goal in the '74 Cup Final.....!
Flasher Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Rob Jones. Thought he was outstanding. Felt so sorry for him
Guest Dimps Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Rob Jones Could and should have been one of the best right backs to have played the game. He'd still be playing for us and England now.
Earl Hafler Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Recently, i'd say Babbel. Was overjoyed when he joined on a free and he was sensational in the treble season. Crying shame what happened afterwards.
slapnuts Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Berger - his shootingCollymore - on his day he was class.
Phil236849 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 beyond the obvious, paul walsh and jan molby, players for the romantics gutted that the lfc 501 goals dvd i have criminally includes walters and not walsh!
Stevie H Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 peter beardsley. played the game with the joy of a schoolkid and was completely unselfish. loved watching him.
stressederic Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Berger. I was always a big fan of his, and when he was free of injuries and playing regularly with confidence, he was great.
Phil236849 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 joy of a schoolkid with jumpers for goalposts and half time oranges
5InIstanbul Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 None of you will be surprised to see me say Collymore. And Igor, if nothing else for that performance at Deportivo La Coruna when he looked like the best central midfielder ever to have played the game of football.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Cisse..........s***, we havent sold him yet
Guest JV Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) Rob Jones - Class player, shame about the injuriesBabbel - Always wtd us to sign him and when we did I was made up. Was the best right back in the world imo.Redknapp - One of my fav players in my younger daysBerger - Now he could shoot! Edited February 1, 2006 by JV
Shanklyanfield Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Robbie Fowler......................... oh wait he's back isn't he Seriously, Molby - used to love watching him play and as good as Xabi and Stevie G are Molby was the best passer of a ball I've ever seen. Barnes as well - when in full flight he was unstopable.
Big E Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) everyone mentioned above, but special mention to. Molby - classMcManaman - One of the best in the world at his peak for usBugsy - crap but always got stuck in. True cult hero! Also Ronnie Whelan - remember a comeback game against QPR where he was brilliant F*ck it - they were all ace! Edited February 1, 2006 by Big E
shaq Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The Great Dane... Rushy... more recently Biscan (now, he WAS the man!) Litmanen - A classy player that I never felt that we got full value from, I remember I was over the moon when we signed him, but then I felt we wasted him. Even though he wasn't at his peak when we got him, I think he would have worked wonderfully in a Benitez team. He's who Xabi reminds me of now - except I think Xabi will be even better than Litmanen when he was at his peak.
Shanklyanfield Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 John Wark Loved him Absolute legend and a great bloke! Met him at Anfield in the Executive Club a couple of years ago when we played and lost 1-0 to Ipswich (Marcus Stewart goal) and he was with Gary Gillespie. Both of them stopped to talk to us for about 20 minutes about the old teams, how the new team was doing etc.... When I asked him who he was supporting tonight, he just smiled and said "Don't ask a stupid question, Liverpool of course"
Guest Anders Honoré Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Owen - no explanation needed. Smicer - always liked him and thought he made an important contribution when fit. would fit well into rafa's style of play as well. I was sorry to see him go.
Internationinteroperability Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I really miss Biscan, Berger and, to some extend, Redknapp and Macca (Gary Mac and Steve Mac). I also miss Smicer, but all of our Czech players have had a place in my heart. Milan's space wasn't that big though
Jimi Rojo Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Riedle - we got him too late, but I still haven't given up hope on him yet!
Big E Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) interesting noting the age group here. No one mentioning Kenny after 25 posts! Maybe this has been done before, but which former player would add the most to this team? You'd have to say Rushie. Edited February 1, 2006 by Big E
