Guest roger Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Fowler's penalty - before kick-offFeb 1 2006 By Sam Lister Daily Post Staff TO HIS devoted fans, footballer Robbie Fowler is known simply as God. But yesterday the Liverpool player proved to be a mere mortal bound by the laws of the land when he was pulled over for speeding. The Toxteth-born striker was on his way to the club's Melwood training ground just days after returning to his spiritual home, Anfield. As he headed along West Derby Road in Tuebrook police spotted him breaking the 30mph limit and stopped him. It is not clear what speed the player was travelling but officers hit him with a £60 fixed penalty notice. A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police, said: "A 30-year-old man was stopped on West Derby Road. He was given a £60 fine and three points on his licence." His speeding offence comes as he is due to make his first appearance for the club tonight since his return. A Liverpool FC spokesman last night said that he was not aware of the situation. icliverpool
