I think the players will understand the excitement of the fans. They know it's a big moment for both him and all of us and I don't think that would cause any bitterness between the players. We are the greatest fans in the world, and he is a big part of our history so it is only fair that we give robbie a true welcome home.

 

I'd hope our fans wouldn't focus on Robbie if he was on the bench 3 games down the line (out of respect for the 11 on the pitch) but I don't think that will be the case.

Don't think so: Benitez must have picked up signals about a Fowler return and all the implications before anything was signed.

 

I am actually of the opinion that something very deep is going on here. We are not richly oversupplied with forwards yet he allows the youngest 90-minute player to go out on loan. Cisse must have had a few sleepless nights last month and now finds his place quite safe for the rest of the season (squad-wise anyway).

I can't wait to see God playing in front of a truly world class midfield. His first touch and finishing will be maximised by the passing quality behind him. He was never the fastest, but his intelligence and movement will give him chances and the more he scores, the more excited the crowd will be to see him out there. He'll thrive.

The only way I will see it is on Tele but looking forward to it, I just hope everything works out, would hate to see him flop. But at this stage I am full of optimism

has Cisse got much competition for his place in the World Cup? Though I know how prolific he has been for his country though so I guess hes pretty much sorted.

As for Fowler. I can't wait... am sat near the dugout anyway, but its gonna be pretty strange seeing him warming up/playing for us again. I can't wait.. it was the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning and the last thing I thought about last night before going to sleep....

it's a further common misconception that Fowler ever scored 30+ prem goals in a season, let alone 3

 

 

 

he was quicker than he is now, no doubt - but he was never reknowned for his pace.

 

so for the Kopites amongst us - what is the etiquette for tonight during the warm up in terms of the players names being sung ?

The only thing I'm concerned about is that he might try a bit too hard.

 

I remember when he wasn't getting as many games as he'd like in his last season, every time he came on he seemed to be really trying to force it, rather than just playing naturally as we'd got used to.

 

Mind you, I am wrong about alot of things.

He was certainly far quicker than he is now but he was never quick - it was his movement and positioning that always gave him the edge. Plus, he used to have so much faith in his own ability that he would just shoot once the ball was under control (and sometimes when it wasn't!)

maybe you're too young to have seen it sabre, but i used to watch him running down the channels at full backs at pace. he was a nippy little bugger.
