Guest The Defender Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 just heard off sky sports news that spurs rejected a 12million bid from us for the little guy.. i'd like to thank whoever at spurs rejected this offer..
Romario Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Is that really true? Why do we keep doing massive last minute bids? Sad if true.
Guest Cardie Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 12 million for Defoe. Thank f*** the transfer window is closed.

Barnesy_10 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 am sure Sky said one of the papers is reporting that Man Utd made a late bid for him...

I think 12 million would be a fair price for him. OK must admit he has played pretty poor this season, but last season he was doing well for club and country.

Barnesy_10 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 he must be gutted.... we were his best chance of him proving his worth for the World Cup. I feel a bit miffed that we didn't get him, but if Cisse was in any kind of swap then I am more miffed

If he is gutted then he should just hand in a transfer request and move to uz in the summer.

Maldini Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Defoe has glaring flaws in his game, but he seems the type that Rafa could work with, has a bit of nous about him, he's a natural goalscorer.

Andyjandy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) I laugh at tottenham if they rejected 12m for defoe. Edited February 1, 2006 by Andyjandy
Stigger Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The thing I dont understand about the transfer window is why wait till it opens to buy players. Surely you can do all the negotiating and agree a fee before hand and come 3rd January, when everyone is back from the bank holiday, register the player and exchange contracts etc. Just seems strange more deals aren't agree before hand and confirmed that the player will move at the next window.

R A Softlad Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Tomorrow's papers reckon we offered Djibs in a striaght swap and that Man Ure offered Saha + £2m.
smurfinaus Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The thing *is*.*if* we did actually make a bid for Defoe... what does that say for Cisse's future with us?.
Cunny Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is a target for Real Madrid. (Mirror) Tottenham rejected late moves in the January transfer window from Liverpool and Manchester United for England striker Jermain Defoe. (Daily Express) Liverpool were believed to want to do a straight swap with Djibril Cisse while United were prepared to offer Louis Saha and £2m for Defoe.
