Good move I think.

He'd have started about 3-4 games at most from now until the end of the season here, the rest made up with odd spells off the bench, especially since Fowler's arrived, so at least with this we can get a proper look at how he does with a run of games. Presuming he's not just going to be on Blackburn's bench all the time.

or we are getting another player in

Cant see him going having any relevance myself, he'll be behind Garcia and Gerrard on the right and behind Fowler, Crouch, Morientes and Cisse upfront anyway(Although he's better than Cisse imo)

This was one player that I did not want to go on loan.

We now have a choice of four strikers, they all have their good and bad points, but one thing they collectively don't have is speed. The ball has to be on a plate as our strikers (apart from Cisse :() cannot outpace the majority of central defenders if a ball is over the top, which in turn takes away a large part of our game.

I guess the idea is for him to get more games. They've got Bellamy though and I'd imagine he'd be first choice in the quick striker department.

Really hoped we'd get through today with him still around.

OFFISH

Liverpool have allowed striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle to join Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the 2005-06 season.

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes commented: "We were keen to add to our striking options and we welcome the opportunity to bring Flo here."

France Under-21 international Sinama-Pongolle has scored three goals for Liverpool this season and was signed by former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier from Le Havre in the summer of 2003, in a double transfer along with Anthony Le Tallec.

Sinama-Pongolle's best moment to date in a red shirt was probably the Olympiacos game in the Champions League at Anfield last season, when he came on as a second half substitute and helped inspire the Reds to the last 16 of the competition.

He was to then miss the rest of the 2004-05 season after injuring his knee in the Carling Cup semi-final win at Watford.

The Reds striker has played 65 games and scored nine goals for Liverpool.

i don't think it does, kev. we haven't scored that many from balls played in over the top. plus we seem to counter-attack more in numbers under rafa than with pace as we did under GH.

Can't understand this neither. If anybody was to go I would have preferred to see Cisse off. Pongolle hasn't had half the opportuinties Cisse has had (and spurned!)

Cisse's wages are substantial - finding a Club willing to take him on would have been a very different proposal from loaning out Flo.

Sorry, I won't do it again. :(

I don't understand the angst.

He's not a regular in the first team, he doesn't score much anyway. Why would we miss him that much? If he does well at Bburn it's good for us, if he doesn't then we sell him.

Morientes, Crouch, Cisse, Fowler as our strikers with Kewell and Garcia as able back-ups in forward positions.

Just think we're leaving ourselves a little short now Scot - not exactly a huge amount of RM options available to us and I do think little Pongolle has the ability to turn a game coming on from the bench.
