Forget Hyypia, isnt it Carra the one who is badly in need of a rest?

Noticed this since has returned from japan, but jamie carragher has seemed slugish, off the pace and tired in recent weeks.

Certainly the worst displays from him i can think of within the past 2 years.....yesterday we saw him panic at times, get turned easily and generally look tired the whole game, it was the same against luton..

hyypia on the other hand had an assured display and for me has looked the better center back in recent weeks..

Lets be honest, its no suprise jamie is tired, hes been a consistent fixture in our side for a good 3 seasons now and of course has been playing about 2 games every week since july..

Personally think he needs a rest, the question is....will Rafa do it??? do we have anyone who can actually replace him??

Would Agger and Hyypia together work??

I think he has to cover too much for Hyypia, that's why he looks tired - the work of 1 1/2

Replace Hyypia soon and Carra will be fine IMO.

Yeah thats the reason

Carra has retorted to hoofing the ball out more as our midfield has forgotten how to pass. He was slicing and hacking balls all over the place yesterday. I have always felt Sami gets the blame for errors that Carra makes like ball watching at times. Maybe Agger needs a run with Carra and Sammi alternating. If he is as good as predicted that is.

Yeah my son and I have been saying lately that Carra seems to "orbit" Sami who almost plays as a sweeper at times clearing up behind.

Carragher doesn't need a rest. Carragher is super-human. Provided we keep him away from Kryptonite, he'll be fine.

Jamie and Sami both look tired. They launched the ball last night far too many times. The game was so scrappy because of this.

I'm surprised Agger didn't play to be honest, whilst Spanish Fan's post the other week was a little exaggerated, he was right in my opinion that our CB's do not have great distribution. The long ball was never going to work last night with Mori and Cisse and yet it kept getting pinged out regardless.

No apparently that's not it. We're not allowed to know why though...

Some people really are up their own arses in this place. Fecking know alls.

its a worry to be honest, we are entering the most important stage of the season and most of the players have been going non-stop since july....its starting to catch up with them i feel.

I agree. It's particularly true of both Carra and Hyypia and for very good reason. It's not just the number of games either. Their standard has been so high for so long.

I personally suspect that if Agger is to start soon it will be for Hyypia. Of the two I think Carra is the one who'd be able to carry on a bit longer before having a rest.

We'll see

You suggest a reason for something and it gets shot down in flames, not as an opinion but as fact. It's frustrating at times. Thought my reason was valid, but obviously not.

So be it.

For a while before Christmas Sami and Carra were passing the ball out of the defence and hitting the targets more often than missing them, but now over the last couple of matches they have resorted to hoofing the ball out as fast as possible and when you do that it normally says you are tired, yes both need a break and both need it soon.

Traore can play central defence so why not let him earn his corn there for a few matches

the upcoming home against birmingham is possibly one in which we can rest sami or jamie...possibly both, we have some massive games coming up and now with us drawing the mancs in the fa cup, its another tough game, one in which i doubt any of our first team will be rested..

Birmingham at home is an ideal opportunity...yes its a must-win game, like all games are........but surely we have the quality in back up to beat them...

sami and carra hoofing over djimi goofing any day

hoofing also may be the result of the team as a whole being under pressure defending a lead on a crap pitch in crap weather conditions. i dont think we were in a position to go hansen-esque.
