Reina 7: did well but lot of miscommunication with defence, defence was a shambles

Warnock -3 : mostly but not completely responsible for defensive shambles, not good enough for liverpool

Carra 7: did well in the middle of the shambles

Hyppia 6: lots of headers to clear out did ok ...STOP HOOFING!!!!!

Kromkamp 6: did ok but he's no finnan, decent start

 

Entire midfield: 4.......dominated at times by fecking portsmouth, Sissoko repeatedly gave the ball away, alonso faded in and out, gerrard started brightly but faded away. No protectiion for defence resulting in above mentioned shambles

 

Mori 4: time to go

Cisse 7: worked hard and put in some good crosses

Sissoko's form is worrying me the most right now. even more than Morientes. Last week he was even worse than tonight and he seems to have forgotten how to control or pass a football

he is young and raw.....agaisnt Spurs he was excellent

Reina 6 - Shaky at times

Kromkamp 6 - Had a dcent game

Hyypia 7 - Solid

Carra 6 - Slicing all kinds of clearances today

Warnock 4 - Awful, too nervy for my liking

Gerrard 5 - Good start then faded badly

Alonso 6 - Good workrate but his passing was off

Sissoko 5 - Woeful passer of a ball after he does the hard work

Riise 6 - Good goal and workrate

Moro 4 - Get your finger out your a*** or pack yer bags. No bottle, urgency or pace.

Cisse 6 - Did well when he went out right, some good crosses

I'm not sure anyone was worthy of more than a 6 to be honest. Some general points:-

 

1. The pitch and the wind made it very difficult to judge the bounce and flight of the ball - which was why there were so many freekicks being given away by both sides.

 

2. Kromkamp looked quite good, even more so because of point 1. Poor freekick to give away for the goal but that always happens when defenders are adjusting to a new league.

 

3. Warnock was poor. Two awful backpasses that nearly cost us and twice put the ball straight into touch under no pressure.

 

4. The whole midfield was quiet, but then they were being bypassed a lot and it wasn't exactly the conditions for flowing football. Sissoko should not be picking up bookings for diving - he will always get them for tackles so he needs to cut them out of the rest of his game. They all stood up well to the battle and were not put off by some OTT tackling fro Portsmouth early on.

 

5. Cisse was better than last week. Will always have his limitations, but at least he was trying and working hard. Got some good crosses in, but:-

 

6. Morientes was dreadful. Limited service but that did not stop Cisse from trying. Just seems to be on the backfoot the whole time - no anticipation at all. Didn't attack the near post for any of Cisse's crosses and an awful touch when in a good position from Gerrards pull back.

 

7. The f***ing band was really doing my head in by the end. Fair play the drummers must have strong wrists to keep banging the drum all game, but what does that show - they are all w*****s!

We were awful today. But the funny thing is that in the two cup ties in this competition, our team performance was awful yet we managed to get through.

 

I guess its a good thing if you play bad but win. But that can only go so far, I just hope we play better in the next round. If we keep this up, well lets just say for some spectators, it will be quite bad for their health!

I'm getting a bit worried about Momo. We know he's a little rough around the edges but he looks more and more careless to me. He's not what I'd call a tidy player, and I know football can be a untidy game at times but his tackling and passing has been all over the place of late.

I want Didi back in the team once he's fit, give Momo a break.

Reina - 6 was well pi**ed off with the defence for their goal, did Ok

Kromkamp - 7 showed neat touches and made a poncy dive, did well

Warnock - 4 worst display sine Brum away, the pass back almost killed me

Carra - 5 shaky today and his passing was dreadful for any over 5 yards

Hyypia - 6 good in the air, poor passing

Sissoko - 4 awful, but did well not to get booked for a tackle, just a swan dive

Alonso - 6 off night AGAIN, poor first touch

Riise - 6 great goal that cost me a beer as I kicked the table

Gerrard - 5 started well and looked out of sorts in the 2nd half.

Morientes -4 stinker, no idea what he was supposed to be doing. almost a passenger at times

Cisse -5 off he runs to the corner for no apparent reason and when he gets there he attempts to cross the ball to anything other than a red shirt.

 

Subs- none of them had a chance to get a score.

 

Ref- did well and gave out cards early to dissuade Pompey from kicking us into oblivion.

 

home fans- neanderthal

 

away fans- hard to hear over the noise

 

playing surface- looked like a cross between glue and sand.

 

to sum up- we won, that's about it.
