realtarragona Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Domestically: Reina, Finnan, Carra, maybe Riise, Alonso, Gerrard Globally: Gerrard, maybe Finnan (can't think of many world class right backs)
Maldini Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Domestically maybe Gerrard? I think it's a case of poor grammar rather than poor judgement
nd Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Nice question! Domestically: Reina, Carra, Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso. Globally: Gerrard, Finnan, Carra. I'd like to add... Potential domestically: Kewell, Riise, Morientes, Crouch, Sissoko, Fowler Potential globally: Alonso, Sissoko
realtarragona Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 (edited) I think it's a case of poor grammar rather than poor judgement Yeah sorry, I meant... Domestically: Reina, Finnan, Carra, Alonso, Gerrard and maybe Riise Globally: Gerrard and maybe Finnan Edited January 28, 2006 by realtarragona
aka Dus Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Off the top of my head and in no particular order: Domestically: Reina (Cech, Given?)Riise (Heinze, Del Horno?)Carra (King, Terry?)Finnan (none I can think of)Gerrard (Alonso, Lampard?)Alonso (Gerrard, Lampard?) Globally Gerrard (Xavi, Ballack, Alonso, LampardAlonso (Xavi, Ballack, Gerrard, LampardFinnan (I know I'm biased and a bit pissed but are there any stand outs...) As regards goalies, one minute you're hot, then you're not. If we retain the European Cup, Reina will be considered a global keeper (until he lets one howler from which point he'll be known as 'dodgy keeper'.
_00_deathscar Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Domestically: Reina, Finnan, Carragher (Hyypia?), Riise, Gerrard, Alonso Globally: Gerrard
ricflairandy Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 globally, gerrard, carra, possibly alonso and fowler
Guz Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Gerrard, Alonso, Carra and Finnan for sure domestically. Not going to include Reina because he's only been here 6 months but made a solid start obviously.
Rusty Shackleford Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Domestically - Gerrard, Carragher, Alonso, Reina, FinnanGlobally - Gerrard, Alonso
nd Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Whos better than carra worldwide then? I'm struggling to think of anyone. For me, Carra is the best defender in the world. I wouldn't swap him for anyone. Same goes with Finnan. Puyol? Would you swap?
nd Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Who's that much better than Kewell? At the moment Robben isn't really playing much better than him. Who else is there? Giggs? Reyes? Very arguable. I can't see why Kewell would be left out here. In fact potentially he should be up there on a world stage. There really aren't that many better left wingers in the world when he is on top form. Problem is that he hasn't been on top form for about five years. But, yeah, he has the potential.
Morgul Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Domestically: Gerrard, Alonso, Finnan, Carra, potentially Kewell Globally: Gerrard for sure. Maybe Finnan and Carra. Kewell and Alonso have the potential

Whinger needs to either move him back to his own position or sell him.

Same goes with Finnan.Would you swap? No because he's an icon and brings more than just his performances on the pitch. I'm sure the Barca crowd would say the same in reverse. There really aren't that many better left wingers in the world when he is on top form. He hasn't been on top form for a few years now. His first few months with us were excellent but probably not top form when he was able to simply destroy a team single handedly in his prime at Leeds. He's no where near that at the moment despite his improvements.
