Robbie to be the new 'Sheringham'?

From what I can gather, Robbie has broadened his game to compensate for lack of pace and seems capable of deft hold up play on the edge of the box and has an eye for providing the killer pass. And, of course, he still knows how to put the ball in the net. Very Sheringhamesque...

Now, the ideal player for him would be the 18yr old Fowler but do we know any other nippy players who have the nouse to anticipate the one-two from Robbie and have killer instincts in front of goal? Must be available in the summer and really want to play for LFC...nobody springs to mind...

Cisse

Really?

i think robbie could be a good foil for him upfront, honest.

I don;t particularly want to bin Cisse but he does seem to lack confidence in front of goal. And he seems to be built for pace over distance, as opposed to a nippy response to a short through ball from Robbie...

Robbie could in fact be the new Dalglish as he good control with his back to goal...all he needs now is an 'Ian Rush' type player...

i think the main reason signed robbie on loan is because of ?We?ve signed a player with so much passion for this club,? Benítez said. ?He will act as an example to every player here in how much he loves Liverpool. It?s a boost for the team, a boost for the fans and a boost for Robbie.

hopefully he will also prove a valuable asset on the pitch as well.

C'mon Robbie!!!

Robbie is a very smart player - a witty player - and I'm sure he'll impress Rafa in that sense. [Er, by the way: how the hell did his TEETH get that white?]

He showed himself to have a good eye for a pass under Houllier when he had to play a more withdrawn role now and then.

footballingwise, I think he will be a decent option and a good stop-gap solution if he's not injured.

a bit harder eh Anders

it's the giddiness that gets to me.

Xabi is at least worthy of your manlove, anny.

Past season or so, he's always played deeper and have linked up play extremely well from my memory, some of his passes and flicks up field were very Moro-sque (When Moro was at his peak that is)

He won't just be a poacher, he has more to offer than just his goals nowadays.

you see Anders....you just dont f***ing get this do you.......

As much as I love Xabi, Robbie is on a different level as a Liverpool hero.......and was before he re-signed

it isnt always about pure footballing ability

I haven't been this excited about a transfer since Gerrard decided to stay with us. That felt like signing a football genius. We've just signed another football genius. The beauty of it is that they are both our geniuses, they are part of the fabric.

The minute you start talking about primary targets when Robbie Fowler comes home is the day to give up football.

When he appears at Anfield on Wednesday the roof will come off.

That will be one of the highlights of the season. And wait till he scores... After 15 minutes.

You think he'll be in the starting lineup ? :o

Even if he's a substitute the noise will be incredible.

that's because you didn't grow up a football fan.

ergo, you are wasting your time here.

Actually no, I just mean after 15 minutes on the pitch. :D

I don't think he'll start but hopefully we'll get to see him out there at some point during the game. But maybe Rafa and Paco want to run their fitness tests on him first, who knows.

Thats another great thing about the timing of this. We have Paco now and he's meant to be an outstanding fitness coach. If anyone can help Robbie get an extra %15 of fitness then its him.

With respect to the coaches at Leeds and City, I doubt they could have got players as fit as our coaches.

Fowler will work like a dog to get fit. His career has been on hiatus for the last 5 years, but now it's back on and Robbie will make the most of it. With the help of Paco we'll see Fowler with the body of a greek god within a month.
