CaptainXabi Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I assume the management is waiting until the summer and hoping that Cisse has a good World Cup so that we can con some foreign team into overpaying for him just as we did. It's a good plan, IMO. I can see it coming off, especially since he plays so much better with France.
Knoxy Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 agreed. Not sure on that substitution - thought it might have been a cue for us to stop hitting it long and pass some more but.....We need to get Gerrard involved. Momo should have been taken off ( and recieve a severe word for yet another stupid pointless f***in booking) moved SG into the middle (he did feck all out wide today) and told to get hold of the f***ing game. I still can't beleive we lost that game to that schithole Utd side. Cisse was poor, never loooked a threat.I'M JUST SOOOOOO f***ING ANGRY Apparantly Crouch was injured - dead leg. Agree otherwise. The lucky nobends
Guest Jude Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 We lose a match and the knives come out for one of our players,FFS this is the time to get behind the team and not try and nit-pick on individual players. O/K he missed a sitter and his attitude may not seem right at times but Rafa Benitez must see something in him or he would have got shot of him long ago so until that happens get behind the man,in Rafa i trust . While you are doing a knife job on Cissie why not do one on the culprits who let that c..t in for a free header, yes the defence played well for the majority of the game but they were at fault for the goal,so go on do a bit more nit-picking.
jfogarty Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 He was awful today. He has no first touch,no football brain and has erratic compusure in front of goal. Frustrating
Guest sniffer Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Well, here's a thought for you. Cisse will definitely play against Portsmouth next week. If he wants to finish second, RAFA has got some action to do before the end of Jan. Get a right-sided midfielder and a striker. Story, end of.
Ian Mc Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I've backed Cissé in the past hoping he would come good, but after today and other wretched performances from him he is not good enough. Today against a s**** Man Utd side we had control of the game, without really having the conviction to take it to them. I thought Stevie G never got going and tended to sit rather than making his usual driving runs forward. So there was no link from Midfield to Attack except Harry. Crouch held the ball up well and got the flick ons, but Cisse was either running the wrong way or 10 yards off the pace. Gutted to lose it like we did, but the longer it stays 0-0 away from home that is the risk you run. We need to learn lessons from this for the future. And i'm sure Rafa will be replacing maybe both Cisse and Morientes in the summer.

We can finish second with what we've got, no doubt about it Hopefully, Rafa will use his annoyance in a positive manner
Gomez Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Well Rafa said THAT opportunity was "clear". I've tried to give Cisse the benefit of the doubt but today, he was the only player that was poor. Liverpool did well but when Crouch went off, that was it. Cisse lost us that game with THAT miss. Sell him. I'd take £5M at this minute (maybe kneejerk) As much as I wish I wasn't about to say this but...... I wish we'd been prepared to shell out the £17M required for Erm, "THAT miss" was adjudged offside, wouldn't have counted, rightly or wrongly. But it in no way cost us the match.
galés rojo Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 We lose a match and the knives come out for one of our players, Any criticism of Cisse isn't based solely on this game. We knew before today he was a limited footballer but the least he could do is work for the team, chase balls, press the opposition and look f***ing interested.

We should avoid panic purchases (*cough* Saha *cough*) because they hurt in the long run. But between those two positions, one of the next players we sign has to be able to take a consistently good free kick. That's all I ask from Rafa.
Tones Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 We lose a match and the knives come out for one of our players,FFS I think it was the final straw for many people today. Not just a reaction to the defeat as he was getting a bit of stick at HT on here. Its not knee kerk. It what hes done or hasnt done all season. Today as i said was just the final straw. I wouldnt fault people if they at least made an effort and tried their hardest, especially against Man U. But he didnt. And hes really just not that good, even if he did put the effort in.

I agree the least he should do is hustle and harry opposition defenders and chase balls!
Falconhoof Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 We dominated the game, they were there for the taking. Cisse and Crouch and Morientes offered nothing. 2 new strikers for next season.
Guest Red Mist Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Cisse should be 5th in the pecking order, behind Crouch, Moro, Sinama and Mellor who's not even at the club anymore. He is simply hopeless. His attitude stinks and no more can we rely on Cisse just because he's scored the odd goal for us in the past (mostly against mediocre opposition). Time to get rid and buy a player worthy of playing for the European Champions.
Knoxy Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Erm, "THAT miss" was adjudged offside, wouldn't have counted, rightly or wrongly. But it in no way cost us the match. True But he missed it, and it was a sitter He's not good enough to play for us
Huyton_Red Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Yes. he was rubbish cisse, granted But so was gerrard, alonso didnt pass a ball to another liverpool player all game and kewell and sissoko were awful as well What has really, really upset me about that is the fact so many of them played so badly and gave far to much respect to the worst Man Utd team for 20 years. They are f'ckin awful and our passing in the last third was awful, we paid them far to much respect when we should of pressed right up and passed them off the park we panicked and hit it long or misplaced passes all the time. Why the f'ck our players froze this afternoon is beyond me, these players have played in European cup finals for god sake. Shocking that, it really was. The midfield really let us down today, we all know ciise is sh'te, but we didnt expect our midfield to play like that
Swipe Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Erm, "THAT miss" was adjudged offside, wouldn't have counted, rightly or wrongly. But it in no way cost us the match. No it wasn't. It would have counted. When the camera picked up the linesman with his flag up, he was simple stating it was a goal kick. No offside was given. It did cost us the match. It's not even the fact he's so poor that annoys me about Cisse. It's has s***ty, moany, stroppy, lazy attitude. But as someone has said - it's too late to get rid in this window.

Xabi didn't hit a red shirt all day? What a load of s****. True, Cisse let us down. We should have beaten them, but your reasoning is all off.

Cisse Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Of the strikers on the pitch he was the one creating the most chances though. We never looked like scoring after Cround and he went off.
Swipe Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 In no way was Alonso crap today. We were in awe of fixture?? Utter b****x. We were the better team. We are the better team. They have better strikers and got a break with a last minute goal. Thats all.
spencer Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Don't agree with the criticsm of Crouch - it was his enforced departure that swung the game; we were dominating the second half in part because of his hold-up play; as soon as he went off, we couldn't retain possession in their half and united actually got into the game. Still, I'd rather have our problems than United's.
McBain Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 All our strikers are variations of poor Cisse today was the worst he's ever been though
Falconhoof Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 thats balls about our midfield, while not hitting their recent highs, they did more than enough to win this game, if we'd we had at least one striker capable of finding space and converting a chance.
