Paisley Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 That one where they square it to Riise to hit is doing my head in - I've seen 4 or 5 where by the time he comes to hit it the opposition are about 2 foot away. Take the hint, just let him hit it. We are very ineffective with set pieces.
Earl Hafler Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Maybe the lads will prove me wrong in the second half ?
Andyjandy Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Welldone bigstuff, you are very right. Im glad you bumped this so we can appreiciate how right you were. Nice one.
Clay Davis Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 the difference between us and them is strikeforce. its as simple as that.

Crespo's finishes ( even on the disallowed goal ) were brilliant. 24 goals in 37 starts ( i think ) Gerrard's brilliant cross form the left and not one player anticipating it. Crouch is a good player and an asset to the squad but he is not a striker in the sense that he has an instinct for goalscoring. Then we have Cisse come on and play wide right. Guest Ant Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 The following are the difference between us and them. Strikers and Money You can't get the strikers if you haven't got the money

Strikers and Money You can't get the strikers if you haven't got the money £14m on Cisse£18m on 3 duds. We've had money but some recent buys have been poor. That team has played well for long periods today but lacked a cutting edge upfront. Warnock was slow getting out ( not the first time our left back has cost us this season by not being in sync with the other 3 defenders ) and Crespo punished us. We hit the wall a few weeks ago, just at a time when Chelsea were dropping points and we could have made ground on the Mancs. Now we've lost against both and surrendered the 2 game ' advantage ' we had on Utd.Rafa's a brilliant manager but Cisse wide right is insane.
surfaris Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 i do agree.we are really s**** with set piece & corner. we ve won many during games, but how many did we really converted the chances? SET PIECE & CORNER session needed now.
Maldini Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 The funny thing about yesterday is, up until their goal, we looked more threatening from set-pieces than we have since GH's time.
growler Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 the basic problem was, that when one of their players passed the ball, it went to another chelsea player. simple. If we cannot do the basic pass and move CONSISTANTLY then we are screwed. How many shots on goal, on target did we have against them?
Guz Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I wonder if Carragher had got a better connection on the ball at the other end people would be harping on about the man-marking system of Chelsea??

growler Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 possession may be 9/10th of the law, but it doesn't give you points, shots on target or anything else. unless we make more changes, we can't get close to scoring, and until we hit the target, we aren't going to score.
