Guest snez1 Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Good goal? He's got 6 this season now hasn't he? Not too bad for an attacking midfielder playing up front in THE WORST Premiership team ever. Especially when you consider he's been on the bench more than he's started.

Especially when you consider he's been on the bench more than he's started. he plays for them as a striker, not a midfielder. And in the words of a Mackem fan 'all we do is try and lump the ball up to him to head'. Hardly Le Tallec's game, I bet he's having the time of his life up there Maybe it'll at least help him mature a bit!
Zoob Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Good goal? Move was started by a Sunderland player rugby tackling a WBA player. Ball played to TLT who cut inside defender well and hit shot that was deflected past the keeper. Marwood seems to think the original shot was going wide, but he exists in a different reality from the rest of mankind, so I'm not too sure.
Guest snez1 Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Horrible move for him anyway going there. Wigan would havebeen perfect in hindsight. But the football they play is f***ing awful. Ah well, all my high hopes for this kid have nearly dissappeared completely. After Juve i really thought he had a shot at proving himself as well .

Le Tallec's problem isn't failing to play enough cute football. It's not being bothered some games, not enough application, and a weak eye for goal despite his generally good technique. In terms of football, yes Sunderland is a horrible move, but in terms of teaching him the right mentality? I think it's a good place for him. The crowd gets on his back when he's lazy and he's running around like Momo these days (you know what I mean) based on the last two games I painfully sat through and watched. He's dealing better with scrappy games and His strike rate has also improved dramatically. From 2 in 30 for us to around 6 in 15 for Sunderland. Long story short, I think it's been a good move for him. Edited January 21, 2006 by CaptainXabi

owenthomas Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 6 in 15 for Sunderland.6 goals for Sunderland? really? not bad that considering.. didn't realise he had so many..
CaptainXabi Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 6 goals for Sunderland? really? not bad that considering.. didn't realise he had so many..I'm sorry, I meant to type 5 and that's assuming he got a goal today. Based off this: http://www.safc.com/team/?page_id=6941
passater Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 He really wasn't all that good today. The 'goal' was a clear o.g. - a very weak shot was going wide and Steve Watson couldn't resist sliding it in. As has been said before, ALT is neither one thing nor another.....not an out and out striker, not a midfielder.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 He'd fit right in 'in the hole' playing 4-5-1 as we do now and then.
Guz Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) Did he even touch the ball for the finish? Only saw it once and it looked like the WBA lad touched the ball into his team-mate as he slid into make the tackle adn eventually deflected it past the keeper? He'd fit right in 'in the hole' playing 4-5-1 as we do now and then. So would Steven Gerrard, Luis Garcia and Harry Kewell which is one of the reasons he's elsewhere Edited January 22, 2006 by Guz
IgPig Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 He's quite obviously an "in the hole" player a la Bergkamp/Cantona etc His early promise suggested he might well become as good as them. At sunderland, and in the few games he played for us last season, he became a sort of makeshift target man, which isn't really his game. He even looked more effective when he played for us at right mid under Houllier. He might still come good. For Robbies sake, Cantona was nearly a sheffield wednesday player at one point because he was a stroppy t***. Players like le Tallec often come of age a little later because their game is based on technique and intelligence.
