I think it was around this time last year when everyone everybody was disillusioned with the game. I was one of them. At the time i thought it was to do with all sorts of factors like football running away from it's soul. Looking back on it I think it's just cos we were crap.

We were 4 months away from winning the biggest prize in club football, we can't have been that crap, can we?

It was the start of this season that it realy kicked in, poor attendances throughout the league, people saying they can't be arsed going etc

no we weren't Birmingham or anything. But we hadn't played any european football for a while and we were so inconsistent in the league. Football's never been all about excitement but there wasn't much optimistic anticipation around when people viewed our next league match.

This year's been absolutely superb so far bar about the first 4-5 weeks and even that didn't matter because we were still the fresh european champions.

On a side note i wouldn't mind if UEFA made us start every season in July. Summer's crap generally.

We were , we had Europe and the Carling / Coco-Cola / Worthington / insert name of choice cup keeping us going. Fat Frank had just hacked down Xabi and the rot was about to totally set in the league.

Europe saved us last season and showed us the way forward. This season Rafa is building on the foundations he laid and the lessons he learnt about English football.

Viva La rafaloution (need to find the Spanish version of that :hmm: )

Or the player's adapted to what he wanted them to do after not getting it quite right for a good proportion of last season.

And the one we do sign gets a 3 pager with

"Good lad, says the right things"

and

"He's the answer to our pacey centreback/tricky winger/clinical striker/overlapping fullback/ball winning midfielder/defence unlocker problem"

Or we could sign a page 3er. stick her as a support striker to get the old baps out in the final 3rd.
