psl Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Well In Johnny. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060120-1318.htm
Phil236849 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 this is quite interesting, as there was a report not so long ago that he was getting a pay increase but not a contract extension, with a dodgy quote from parry saying you don't always have to extend contracts to show a player is appreciated - dodgy as i think at the time riise was well into his last 2 years. anyone else like me feel that raffa felt the jury was still out on rockets, but has now changed his mind, and is chosing rockets as his main LB for the future?
beejay Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Great news. One of the mainstays of the team and we need him.
Ombudsam Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Maybe we'll give him his press conference now. And only 5 years late
Case Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Time to offer Harry a two year extension methinks.
floyd the barber Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Time to offer Harry a two year extension methinks. errrrrrrrrrrrrm not yet, methinks he still needs to prove his worth and continue to perform how he has been this past month for the rest of the season, then we can talk about an extension.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 maybe it's conditional upon him using his right peg for actually kicking
Phil236849 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 anyway, how about a nice rocket against United to celebrate eh johnny

adayinthelife Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I still think though that his inability to use his right foot at all is holding him back and is frankly ridiculous for a professional footballer. For me Riise is a great squad player who fully deserves a new contract and all this moaning about his lack of a right foot is ridiculous as nearly all left footers are completely rubbish with their right.

Johnny Boy gets himself into good positions going forward and only needs to perform a basic pass with his right but he can't do it. It's embarrassing and he should work on it. Not only that it can mean losing possession in dangerous areas. He's playing for Liverpool, not some pub team.

No-one in any pub team i've watched has anything near the power and technique JAR has with his left foot in their best foot. His inability to shoot with confidence with his right foot is a flaw in his game i can put up with (I don't see basic passing as a problem as long a the team realise his weakness and can give him an easy option occasionally). I'd be very surprised if a coaching plan to improve JAR right foot shooting hasn't been implemented but i'd rather he continued improving defensively though.
Scally Bob Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 No-one in any pub team i've watched has anything near the power and technique JAR has with his left foot in their best foot. That's why they play for pub teams. I know plenty of amateur players who are better with their weak foot than Riise is.
