It's looking like we aren't gonna buy anyone else this window.

It would be interesting to know, how much have we spent NET this season?

is it? I never can figure how people know this!

As for how much we've spent - hard to say really, as we don't know how much money we are paying up front for players, or how much we recieve up front for players.

But from the summer we've commited around £24 mill towrds transfers. And recieved around £11 mill. But also of course, we've swapped Josser and Kromkamp, and bought a few youngsters in, and I've no idea what the fees for them where. Probably a nominal fee for each I guess.

1. Why do you think there will be no one else in this window.

2. When you say net, do you mean you want the kind of meaningless Agger(5.8m) + Kromkamp(0) + Sissoko (5.5m) - Baros (6m) type calculation that mean absolutely nothing as transfers don't work like that outside of dumb football manager computer games?

:D I cant either, must be because as far as I know we werent linked with anyone in a newspaper today. So that defo means we arent signing anyone else. ;)

You cannot say much on this site, without one of the "Rose Tinted Brigade", having a pop. Who says I know ANYTHING?

If you read what I've said, it says "LOOKING LIKE".

Anyway, thanks for the 2nd paragraph.

Yes they do work like that. Just because the funds aren't all paid and received at once it doesn't mean clubs don't calculate their budgets in this way.

The calculation is far from meaningless.

I agree with you.

It is looking less likely, by the day, that we will buy a right sided player this transfer window. In fact I would now say the odds are that we won't.

Well I was told that Kromkamp would be the only buy this window, but that is false. Maybe the person meant Agger

The Walcott deal smacks of similarity to the Owen one for me.

When was the last time LFC signed a significant player 'out of the blue ' with absolutely no pre-speculation in the press ?

Lack of links in the press is a pretty good guide to go by. Doesn't mean we won't sign somebody, but if a transfer was imminent (and it has to happen within the next 11 days ) you'd normally expect the press to be getting a sniff of it by now.

We'll never know, but you do wonder....

Thanks for that, I think most fans also think like this ;)

It appears that on this site, you are not allowed to air ANY non-conformist views, without being pillioried by what I'd call the "POLITICALLY CORRECT BRIGADE"

I await further castigation :bleh:

I think if the right player at the right price comes along Rafa will 'swoop' as we do need another option on the right. But if he cant manage it I think he'll be satisfied with what he has

Centre back was one we couldn't afford to mess up again

ok, i'm going to say it is looking like we will sign someone else in January. we may or may not, but its got as much foundation as your statement

It is very depressing that we can't seem to be in the hunt for someone like Walcott. With all the financial restraints Arsenal have, they can stump uop this sort of cash but we can't? Why?

True. So why spend so much time knocking people down for having certain views which are not abusive or unrealistically negative? (not aimed at you specifically or at all)

think that's about the size of it. we won't be ripped off but if a right midfielder is available who improves the squad and who isn't stupidly-priced then i can see us getting one in.

f*** sake. Maybe just maybe we didnt want to spend that amount of money on him?

What is the "right price" though? Are you not cutting off your nose to spite your face by not agreeing to pay a bit extra for someone you really want? If we had done this previously we may have a RM by now, instead of having to play the best midfielder in Europe on the right as we have no-one else who can competently fill in.

Because with their new stadium full next season, they are hugely confident of future revenue so that they will commit to playing 2/3 million whenever the clauses come up. We don't have that luxury, but I imagine we did put a reasonable bid together.

It's gone, it's past, let's look forward.
