Paul_LFC Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Who are the players that are catching our eye this season? I'm not talking about the usual suspects like Henry etc but the lesser players in the league. Joey Barton has been a star in the league this season. He is really fulfilling his potential and its great to see. Everytime i've watched him this season, he has been brilliant. That volley away at Wigan was just pure class. As everyone says, McBride has been a sensation. He just keeps on popping up with the goals and credit to the lad, he seems to have a good all round game. Jason Roberts for Wigan has got my attention. I thought he'd struggle and would find that the Premiership is too much for him but he is full of tricks and has had the final product to back those tricks up. Seems a down to earth fella too. Steve Davis for Villa, not a suprising choice but he's had a good season as well as Milner who is finally finding his feet. I thought Milner had his 15 minutes but since he's been at Villa, he has come on well. Cheers.
Herbie von Smalls Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 good call on mcbride. he's been catching my eye too. great work rate and appetite, which belie his years. i've also been impressed with mido. after a slow start he showed that he has a passion for the game and a lot of presence. must be good to play alongside also. andy reid's made a bit of an impact at blackburn, in their charge up the table. his teammate morten pedersen has been perhaps the buy of the season too.
Maldini Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) Players that I've noticed being consistently good or better than I thought they were: Spurs: Mido, Keane, DawsonWigan: Baines,Chimbonda, Bullard, Camara, RobertsBolton: NolanMan City: Barton, Ireland, Onouha, Cole Blackburn: PedersenWest Ham: Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Benayoun, Reo-CokerFulham: McBride, JohnEverton: YoboVilla: DavisWest Brom: Robinson, Davies, KuszczakBoro: MorrissonPortsmouth: O'NeilBirmingham: Pennant Edited January 20, 2006 by Maldini
stressederic Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I'm pretty sure that Brian McBride also gives his match and goal bonuses to a charity back in America.
Benitez Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 andy reid's made a bit of an impact at blackburn, in their charge up the table. his teammate morten pedersen has been perhaps the buy of the season too. Souness bought him last summer didn't he?
johngibo YPC Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) I know we stuffed Wigan, but i thought Roberts and Camara looked really lively up front. and have looked good when i've seen him on the tele.Benayoun has gone off the boil abit i think Edited January 20, 2006 by johngibo YPC
Ombudsam Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Carrick and Dawson at Spurs. yeah they've been good. in spain that Regeuiro for Valencia looks a player kilgallon was tops for Leeds the other night
Earl Hafler Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) Agree with a few already mentioned. Vassell has also played well for City, although he'd give Baros a run for his money in the " pass to him, you greedy ****ing b*****d ! " stakes. The young lad at Arsenal who's name sounds like you're trying to say " who " whilst turning into a werewolf. Edited January 20, 2006 by Big Stuff
RafaTheGaffa Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 The young lad at Arsenal who's name sounds like you're trying to say " who " whilst turning into a werewolf. Quincy Owusu Abeyie?

Ostrich Man Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 andy reid's made a bit of an impact at blackburn, in their charge up the table. do you mean steven reid......andy plays for spurs
Crazy Horse Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Several players at Spurs, but Carrick especially. Scott Parker has returned from gardening leave at Chelsea as an even better player.
Spike Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Koldrup, Kilbane and Beattie have impressed me, not just the consistent level they play at but they bring a smile to my face every time they play
