fred Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Im sorry to see the boy Mellor go. I always loved it when he was co-commenting on the e-season, came across as thoroughly likeable.
Beardsley Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Don't want Mellor to leave, but I wish him all the best at Wigan if true. Probably a great move for him...Unfortunately, now we'll have one more former striker who will score against us.
Guest PaulMcC Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I really like Mellor as well. That goal against Olympiakos, you could see how much it meant to him. He caused havoc that night. He seemed to love playing for us. Hope his career goes really well.
anny road Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 cant find this anywhere is it loan or permanent
Ombudsam Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 If this is true then I agree with B9. He'll have a heck of a job ousting Roberts and Camara. i think that johansson is schit which is mainly because i haven't forgiven him for f*cking up v chelsea
Bootle Buck Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I hope he has gone on loan and shows Rafa what a natural finisher he is. Our squad could handle a striker who does little else but score in most games he plays. Good Luck to ya Neil Lad!
SME Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 cant find this anywhere is it loan or permanent Its now on the BBC website - saying both deals are until the end of the season.
CarraLegend Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Good stuff, if he does well we get to keep him and even better he cant play against us.
DazzlaJ Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Yes but there is a much better natural finisher who also cant run playing for City
Ombudsam Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I think that Mellor is quicker than people give him credit for
Big G Superhero Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sky Sports are saying that both deals are until the end of the season. Thompson is a permanent deal, Mellor goes on loan. Can't see any mention of it being a loan on Sky or the Beeb
Gray - YPC Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I think that Mellor is quicker than people give him credit forI think his speed is deceptive.... he's slower than he looks. He'd be quicker if he wasn't treading water with a parachute on his back... at least that's what it looks like. In all seriousness though, I like the lad (same applies to Thommo) and wish them both all the best.

Not sure about a parachute. He runs like he's got you on his back!!
Flip Martian Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Almost better than seeing that goal against Arsenal is Steve Hunter's commentary of that moment on LFC.TV. Just played it again. Hysterical happiness and totally what being a footy fan is all about. Him and Alan Kennedy go mental.
Ronnie Whelan Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Radio stations here (Dublin) are advertising that its loan deal too. Great move for Neil, i hope it goes well for him.
Guest Kev Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) Thompson is a loan move until end of the season with a view to a permanent signing. Mellor is a loan move, but SSN have not mentioned a 'view to a permanent signing'...........................yet Edited January 19, 2006 by Kev
Stevie H Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 makes sense for wigan. camara's away at the acn, connolly's out injured.
Benitez Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Neil Mellor has teamed up with Anfield old boys Stephane Henchoz and David Thompson at Wigan Athletic after joining the Premiership side on loan until the end of the season. Mellor recently recovered from an operation on both knees which had kept him out of action for almost a year and scored two goals in two games for the Reserves after making his comeback in January. Former Liverpool striker Paul Jewell is a big fan of Mellor and has swooped to bring him on loan to the JJB Stadium until the end of this season. Mellor joins former Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz and midfielder David Thompson at Wigan to keep up the Anfield connection. Mellor can't play against Liverpool on February 11th due to Premier League rules. Last season Mellor scored five goals for the first team including vital strikes against Arsenal and then Olympiacos in the Champions League ere
intense enigma Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 makes sense for wigan. camara's away at the acn, connolly's out injured. Is that the same Connolly that Mellor played with when on loan to West Ham? If it is, I hope Mellor confines him to the bench for the rest of his Wigan career
