Liverpool FC would like to warn fans against buying home match tickets from unofficial sources as these tickets may well be fakes.

LFC do not supply tickets for home games to any agents operating through Internet sites. The only safe place to buy online is from the official club site.

 

There were quite a few forgeries on Saturday, don't know if this is linked or not.

I've been to Reading's ground a couple of times lately. Interesting to note that they have no staff at the gates, just a barcode scanning system. Scan your ticket, gate releases and in you go.

Maybe. Don't get me wrong, there are staff to hand, just nobody taking your ticket, tearing something of it then handing it back. I find it's actually quicker.

I've seen it working for 90,000+ at a stadium

How does that work though, surely some people turn up with the correct tickets and demand their seat off those with the fakes? What happens then?

This is fairly standard in Dutch grounds, where on avarage attendances are around 20k. They usually still have stewards in pairs on the turnstiles though who nonetheless check your ticket the moment you enter.

Harsh if they didn't know they were fakes. Though wouldn't be a problem v Chelsea, could just seat the unseated in the away end, plenty of space there.

The amount of grief Dave Usher, and the other fanzine sellers get whilst simply trying to make an honest living is sickening.

 

And all the while touts and other scumbags have a free reign of the place - openly organised touting, with gangs of scallies running round for them, yet nothing is done.

 

I heard a story about a fella who's mate couldn't go being followed around the ground by a bizzie as he had the nerve to ask if he was allowed to sell his ticket (at face value) to which the bizzie said if he did he'd nick him for touting!! The poor fella had ONE ticket to get rid of and had to take the loss on it because of one jobsworth

There is always a heavy police involvement around during match times checking for touts.

Oh, of course. Seems like the club need to do something, as someone has previously said the City of Manc stadium has swipecards and pre-collapse, Leeds had plans to roll that out as well.

Leeds brought in their barcode system this season, so it can't be too expensive to install

They also seem interested in fanzine sellers and have stopped them selling putside the Kop now, moving them off from the spots they've had for years.

 

Interesting, not sure what harm the fanzine sellers are doing.

 

To be fair to the Police they do seem to be on hand when you need them. My mate had his Chelsea semi-final ticket robbed when he had it out queuing up to get in. He legged it after the f***** and the Police stopped him and he got his ticket back. Not sure how often it is for the Police to actually be there at the right time admitedly.

 

They deffo make very little effort to stop touts anyway, every game they come up to me either looking for or trying to sell tickets, I've never seen one nicked in my life.

 

Very rarely see them at aways though.

Me and a couple of mates went to the Betis game at Anfield. Got tickets from an online tout. Paid too much, but we needed the tickets badly and we couldnt get tickets from the Club. Anyway at the match there was a lad with the same ticket as my mate, since there was a free seat just beside us we agreed that the lad just sat there instead. Scary.

 

Later I spoke to a fellow norwegian, he told me that a lot people working for the club sold tickets to travel agency and online touts. Apparently some of the anfield staff can buy some tickets trough the club.

 

Anyway on my Betis-stub there is a number and a name of the seller. Should I report it to the club?

Its big business with well connected people receiving thousands of pounds for some big games.

There were a few suspensions in there this week (at least two) with some low level staff getting caught but its the people higher up that run the big rackets and its been going on for years.

Every ticket is traceable so its not hard to find out were the agencies get there tickets from.

Tickets have the staff member who issued its name on but the problem is its the managment that run the big fiddles and have for years and no-one is monitoring them.

Saw a few familiar faces at Reading Festival as well actually.

 

Some scal tried to flog me and my mate some wristbands to get in for 130 each, not actually a touted price because the tickets were that price so it was obviously a fake.

 

Me and my mate ended up paying 180 for real tickets but my mate got blagged by a cockney for 140 on a fake ticket and thrown out.

 

Touts, hate the t***s, normally I'd tell them to f*** off but I'd decided I was going to Reading on the day of the festival and normally there are legit tickets going from the box office on the first day but we arrived late and they'd sold out so we didn't have much option.

Beware online touts.

 

They take your money and for some of them only then do they try to source the tickets. With so many operating these days, flash sites or not, chances are they let you down.

 

You have no guarantee of getting genuine tickets this way any more.

Some very serious allegations here. I wasn't aware that the ticket office staff receive ten tickets though, the last I heard was six.
