Don't forget about Dida too:

Kaladze: Dida will rebound

BH 14/01/2006

Ever since those three second-half goals conceded in the Champions League final to Liverpool, the normally water-tight Milan defence continues to occasionally spring leaks. The Rossoneri's experienced Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze says he stands by his team-mates and keeper Dida.

Last weekend, Milan were involved in a thrilling 4-3 win over Parma. That's not the kind of scoreline that Carlo Ancelotti's side is accustomed to.

Even though Parma were thoroughly outplayed throughout the game, they were able to give a respectable look to the score by finding ways of puncturing the Milan defence with the few opportunities that they had.

The Rosseneri have conceded 21 goals in their 18 league matches in Serie A this season, more than double the tally of league leaders Juventus. They now have the worst defensive record in the top seven in the league.

Many fingers have been pointing in the direction of Dida, their Brazilian goalkeeper, and the source of a number of mistakes thus far this season.

Having been touted as the world's greatest keeper last year, the Brazilian has suffered a real dip in form, perhaps starting with the Champions League Final against Liverpool in Istanbul last May.

Despite that, he was still named in the Champions League XI for 2005, but now gives the impression that his confidence has evaporated since that fateful day.

"He is not like he was last year, but it's a normal thing. It's impossible to always do the maximum every season. But I think that soon he will change and the chance he had will return."

MUST-WIN AGAINST ROMA

Meanwhile, the Rosonneri have a big game coming up on Sunday as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico for a vital league clash with Roma. With Juve already nine points ahead at this early stage of the season, Kaladze and his team-mates know that nothing less than a win will do if they are to keep up any pressure on the Old Lady.

"At the Olimpico (Stadium) there always had interesting and difficult games, but now we can't make any error. There is 9 points with Juventus, we are second. We have a really great will to win this game and take 3 points, even we know it won't be an easy game."
