Interesting performance by the Captain today

Not his 'rampaging' self in some respects and nothing overly hollywood for the less subtle observers to get carried away with.

However, he had Davids in his pocket. Completely wrapped him up and toyed wth him. Maybe Davids was carrying an injury (wasn't he out for a bit) but it wouldn't be the first time this season that a Spurs fan would say that when Davids isn't in the game Spurs "aren't at their best" (ie win).

So what was interesting is that Stevie can do the quiet, not always noticed simple work and without being the big man in the middle, do more to win the game than anyone else.

Excellent to see this aspect of his game I thought.

Essential contribution to a hard working display from the team in which they were superior in every aspect IMO. We didn't blow them away but there was a difference in class today.

Personally thought Carrick & Davids were very, very good, with Xabi & Gerrard having probably their quietest game of the season.

Sissoko was our star midfielder.

that was an understated(not bad) performace by the captain i felt, he was all down the wing but less instances of him coming inside i think this was deliberate to keep davids out of the centre and allow momo and xabi to play.

I thought Davids won the battle whoever he was up against, and he was the one keeping Stevie quiet. Cracking little player, still. Didn't pay much attention to Carrick though.

How many hospital balls did Momo get today?!

Hear hear...he looked great today, great on the ball and off it closing down.

thought Dawson was really poor.... weren't we considering him at one point a couple of years back? he seemed lost.

Mido going on his a*** down by the away fans and sitting on the ball and rolling it out for a goal kick was hilarious..

the look on the Spurs fans faces was a picture.... he was the most threatening striker for them today though..

yeah I didn't think SteG played well, passing all over the place - but the fact that Davids was a non factor is partly to his credit, so again, he shows that even if he's not 'rampaging' he does a job.

But SteG has matured so much as a player this year. He really has. He's really playing such a role for the team. No longer is he needing to be 'the man', he's being an excellent team player. So he's showing his true worth is many different ways on and off the pitch. He's become someone to respect this year, rather than someone who infuriated me like mad.

And the nice thing is, as I said in another post, even when he, or Xabi aren't as effective creatively as they can be, we still find ways to win, and have other players to step up. And today Momo Sissoko and Harry Kewell yet again stepped up.

Spurs had quite a lot of possession in the second half today, but a high percentage of that was in their own half where we were happy to let them at it. Personally i thought Momo was excellent today. Once he can work on his short game he will be fantastic. Everything is 110%.

Personally thought Carrick & Davids were rather non factor like. Dissapointing in Davids case, as I expected so much more, he was the man I was worried about, but found meself being very untroubled by his presence. In Carricks case, as i didn't really expect him to be a huge factor. So it wasnt a suprise that he wasn't.

Momo was star man tho, as you say

Thought Sissoko was a real star today too, without meaning to take anything away from Gerrard. Sissoko battled and kept after everything in midfield, his engine is phenomenal

I thought he was pretty quiet today, especially in the first half, but we did start to control the game and look more of a threat when he moved into the centre and Sissoko went out to the right. Whether that was just a coincidence...

Yes, he done very well today. I know Rafa places Stevie on the right at times, but he's got to be in the middle with Xabi at all times.

they played basically 4 in central Midfield...Jenas was supposedly playing on the right, but he was very central

This where sitting behind the goal goves you a great view...I spotted there set up a couple of minutes in,,,,Sitting Tainio on Alonso and not allowing him to play....It wass always going to be a difficut match fo our midfield, but it played into momo's hands because he has the fitness and desire to go for 90 minutes

Their line up was definately designed to win the battle in midfield. I think our lads coped very well with it. Gerrard and Alonso played a very disciplined game and Sissoko was boss.
