I hear that spurs put in 20mil (Pounds) for torres, and its being considered. how come us, and no other 'top' club looking at? thought real, scum, a*** and even the russians would be interested, not to mention others.

figaro or others, any truth to this?

Feck where are Spurs getting the money from? Gonna do a Leeds if you ask me

They've hardly spent huge amounths though, have they?

They've made some very good signings, and some really poor ones.

Can't see them splashing £20m on one player. Can't see Torres going there, either.

I hope they get him, they might leave Kuyt and Walcott to us then. Those feckers have picked up £17.5m in the last 12 months for nothing now they've sold those 3 reserves.

Spurs have very rich owners don't they?

they just don't shout about it so much!

I would be amazed if Spurs got him. Absolute amazement. The sort of amazement you cannot imagine.

Were I amazingly imaginative could I imagine the amazement?

Are you thinking of Joe Lewis, the currency trader, if so he sold out to Levy/ENIC sometime ago although saying that I think his son still retains an interest...

actually it was Levy I was thinking of. But maybe I'm just totally mistaken (a normal occurance :D ), and they aren't so rich. I just thought Spurs where well off for some reason.

Anyway, Torres AND Walcott - they really are going for it!

They will spend that £7mill on Iaquinta. They won't get Torres.

Levy also made most of his money from currency trading, he was Lewis' righthand man for years and from what I recall he bought out Lewis' stake in ENIC. Saying that he's no Abramovich and I don't see him ploughing his own money into the club. I think they have 4-5 main shareholders all companies no idea who owns them though but that could be the source.....

Another club that seems to have ridiculous money is Newcastle... where do they get it from???

Newcastle are around £90 million in debt. its a Leeds waiting to hapen up there.

with all the moaning that goes on, on these boards from a few posters, relentlessly posting about our board, it may not hurt them to take a look at other clubs, Arsenal, Man U, Newcastle, Chelsea minus Abramovich, and have a closer look at their finances. it might make them appreciate what we have here

How do you know we or any of those other clubs arent?

We've spent nearly double what Spurs have in the last 18 months. They've only paid out a couple of substantial fee most of those they signed were kids and no-marks for small fees or for free.

And so ? they can buy Torres. He's a very good, skilful player. And young. But not strong enough to do well in the PL. I don't speak about his physical or technical aptitudes but about his mental. And it's the same in "la Liga".

Why do you think the lad is still playing for Atletico and not yet for Barça or Real ?

Didn't they spend a fortune on Michael Brown and Wayne Routledge?? Routledge has since been shipped out for about a tenth of what they paid for him (people on here were clamouring for us to sign him...glad we didn't if he aint good enough for Spurs)

Brown I think cost them £3/£4mill. Routledge was £1.5mill irc and is currently injured.
