uppsala Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/060111/2/g4rw.html Manchester United have made bid for Gravesen - reportWed 11 Jan, 1:46 PM view photoCOPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Manchester United have made an offer to Real Madrid for Denmark midfielder Thomas Gravesen, according to Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet. The paper said Alex Ferguson's side had offered 3.8 million euros (2.6 million pounds) for the international, seeing him as a natural replacement for Roy Keane, but that Real were holding out for 5 million. "The ball is in Madrid's court. They are the ones who have to take the decision not me," Gravesen told the paper on Wednesday. "They have to decide once and for all if they want me or not." The 29-year-old joined Real from Everton in January 2005 for a reported fee of 3.5 million euros ($4.68 million). After being a regular starter under Wanderley Luxemburgo until the end of last season he has dropped out of favour this season as new coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro has preferred Pablo Garcia, Guti, Ivan Helguera and Sergio Ramos. Gravesen has a contract with Real till 2008.
Kahnee Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 His transfer to Real was one of the strangest of last year
Hassony Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 His transfer to Real was one of the strangest of last yearnot as strange as the woodgate transfer
Boca Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 If the mancs get Gravesen it might be time to get worried about them again. The one area they badly need strengthening is centre midfield. He will improve them considerably.
robfar1 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Evra and Gravesen would be an excellent pair of signings for them I'm sorry to say. I know there's a while left in this transfer window but I'm already worried that we'll be left with Kromkamp and not much else.
Hassony Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 gravesen is s***, he might be a good player for the likes of everton or bolton but not for a supposedly top european team.
Kahnee Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 not as strange as the woodgate transfer With his injury record and all the drug rumours, that made a lot of sense from the Newcastle point of view
Owen1978 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 gravesen is s***, he might be a good player for the likes of everton or bolton but not for a supposedly top european team. Agreed
Toni Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 gravesen is s***, he might be a good player for the likes of everton or bolton but not for a supposedly top european team. he will be a good stop-gap for them...certainly better than the likes of smith or o shea in the middle of the pitch. hopefully vidic and evra "will not come to terms with the pace of the PL"
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I heard cocaine. But maybe he just used that to soften the come down All allegedly, obviously spoken like a true journo.
Maldini Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Gravesen isn't really the type of player they need, he's better as an attacking midfielder, they already have loads of them. They need a replacement for Keane and while Gravesen would tackle a truck he hasn't got the positional sense to be as effective as a DM. He looked average for Everton as a DM and then was class for 6 months when they stuck Carsley in there and moved him further forward.
Guest efcrmagic Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 He never once played "defensive midfield" for us. He got the ball and played wherever the hell he wanted, he never stuck to a certain position and wandered so much at times it was infuriating but at other times he could play a pass of such sublime quality it was unreal. He is not a defensive midfielder, he can't defend for his life, I'm certain Madrid had saw Carsleys performances and thought it was Gravesen, seriously. He had been inconsistent for Everton, not cack. He was our best midfielder in his time at Everton by far, I really hope he doesn't go to Utd, we have first option on him to buy him back for what Madrid payed, we should trigger it and get him back, we need him.
