Surely would be a conflict of interest if it were to go ahead.

That's what I was thinking but I don't know when the rights for the Prem are up for grabs or when our current deal with Carlsberg runs out...Saying that they may not get it as the FA may not want a drinks company as a sponsor.

I hear Carlsberg are thinking about sponsoring the Prem, not sure when its up for tender so I don't know if it will affect us...

I'm sure I heard Radio City say today that Carlsberg were looking at sponsoring the FA Cup - no mention of the Prem.

Aye, you could be right my source "the missus" works in the drinks industry and thought it was the Prem now she's not so sure...

Our deal with Carlsberg ends in 18 months.

Any clue as to who we're getting after Carlsberg ? ...(assuming of course that they don't renew).

Almost certain that Carlsberg won't renew. Bacically last summer we had left it too late and thus were left with no option but to renew with them. We signed a 2 year extension (very short for this sort of thing) and rumoured to be less than the £5m a year they were paying previously. I've heard that we are now looking for a joint shirt-stadium sponsor for 2007 onwards.

Saw an interview with Keld Strudahl from Carlsberg in a Danish newspaper today - in connection with a "sponsorship conference" in Copenhagen next week. He would only say that the current deal with Liverpool costs less than the £6-7 million per season which has been quoted in some papers. The old deal is said to have been £4.5 million per season.
