Ste M Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Pongo. Every penalty I've seen him take has been excellent.
Mike Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Pongo. Every penalty I've seen him take has been excellent. the fact that he hardly ever plays is a problem though finnan might take a good pen, he seems to be a very steady, unemotional player
anny road Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Give it to Gerrard his last pen he seemed cool enough....... What will be will be
Maldini Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Without wishing to risk a visit to the firing squad, Simao is an excellent peno taker, does a little Aldo shuffle.
Mike Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Isn't Crouch meant to be good at penalties? missed at anfield didn't he
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 forgot about that. Another entry into the ever lengthening list of people who can't score when handed on a plate
Ronnie Whelan Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 forgot about that. Another entry into the ever lengthening list of people who can't score when handed on a plate Now that the circumstances are different he would be more positive in stepping up?
nd Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 missed at anfield didn't he s*** hot before then, according to a Saints fan I know. We is cursed.
Paisley Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I don't think Riise would miss many (CL final was a good save). It's either him or Alonso for me, Molby was a good penalty taker so Xabi could be like that with a bit of practice.
anny road Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 garcia'd take a good pen he'd back heel the f*****
Eiler99 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'd let Gerrard take them. And if he's not on the pitch, let Xabi take them. His penalty in Istanbul was very well placed but Dida pulled of an amazing save. Nothing you can do about that and Xabi was quick to react on the rebound.
matty Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 The one time Cisse doesn't try to take the back of the net out with a shot, and it's the very time he should try to. Hit it low, hard and on target. I'd have banked on him to score that.
Stevie H Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 think gerrard's fine on them now tbh. his temperament has changed. alonso should be a good enough taker too.
Berger Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I do want Murphy back out of sentiment, but Rafa has the last words.
smicer07 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Everyone misses penalties at some point or another though, we're not going to find anyone who never misses..
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I would like to see someone different that Gerrard step up. His pens are very similar as I have not seen him try hit the other corner yet and the same for Riise. I have seen Djib go to his left against Villa and then the rest were the same. I think Xabi has the confidence and the technique to try hit a different spot each time so I would leave him at it.
5InIstanbul Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'll get flamed for saying it but Cantona is the best taker of a penalty I've ever seen. Twunt.
Maldini Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'll get flamed for saying it but Cantona is the best taker of a penalty I've ever seen. Twunt.Matt Le Tissier
Guest Red in Holland Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Phil Neal was no slouch. Finnan is a good call. Need a regular penno taker that is normally always playing. RiH
