Some fair views there about both them and us, but I have to say I'm really surprised at the anti-foreign (Spanish) feeling they seem to have developed. Must be something to do with their North-London mates and all their success with the French recruits. It also beggars belief how they complain about our style of play etc. They also seem to rate Cissé very highly indeed.

I used to like Liverpool, until Houllier took over. From an outsider's point of view, your "Senor Rafa" is making a mockery of your club's proud traditions and turning it into a Primera Liga XI. Van Gaal tried to turn Barcelona into a Holland XI in his day and failed miserably. Personally, I dislike Benitez's inability to adapt to a new country. Instead of trying to understand the nature of the English game, he just rebuilt another Valencia team with a red shirt.

very interesting read, that thread. thanks.

Interesting that so many of them fear Crouch. I guess we are not the only ones who can see what he offers.

Glory-Glory is quite a good forum, seen a lot of it cos the b/f practically lives there - as I do here! They have some intellegent posters and a smattering of numpties but on the whole its a fair site.

that's funny for two reasons:

1) Benitez has more than sussed the nature of the English game - you only have to look at the players he brought in to understand that..

2) the poster says about 'rebuilding Valencia in a red shirt' as if it's a bad thing.. show me a Liverpool fan who wouldn't like to see that come to fruition!..

considering they are so anti-foreign they don't mind having a dutch coach or was there mass protests when they signed davids? ,thought some of it was strange especially the comments about benitez.

thought that was an odd comment as well. what did he expect? That rafa 'adapts' and finds a longball style of play to win games with?

they do seem a bit hypocritical and up their own arses with all this foreigner stuff - like somehow having 5 or 6 regular starters that are English makes them 'better'.

So their club has made a point of buying up English talent from other teams in the last couple years, but that hasn't stopped them trawling Europe and beyond for their players, either now or in the past. OR from having 2 foreign coaches in a row, and foreign technical directors.

Spurs fans generally are an odd bunch.

They are famed for turning on their team and ripping the confidence away the moment things seem to be getting anxious. They have lived in the shadow of a more illustrious neighbour for many years and it shows in their bitterness. Dull, defeatist and delusional about their worth as a club, they are the Premiership's Eyores. There is a parallel between the Spurs/Ar*e fan persona and that of the Kopite/Bitters tension on Merseyside.

Their xenophobic views about foreigners in the Premiership is nothing if not hypocritical.

Spurs have relied on a steady influx of foreigners just as much as any other club, (This is the club that could be said to have begun a love affair with all things foreign; it is the same club that imported Ossie Ardiles and Ricardo Villa isn't it?) but the thing is that most of their acquisitions have not paid off. With the notable exception of those Argentinians, Jurgen Klinsmann and now Martin Jol in recent times their imports have largely failed to deliver.

Like Eyore, in their lugubriousness, if something has frightened and annoyed them, it should frighten and annoy everyone else

ooh, 'ark at her, that made me reach out for the old dictionary.com!

meanwhile, back on topic: have usually got some time for the old spurs, but football fans connecting ar$es and vocal chords is not too surprising.

Mate i find the spurs fans over here (guernsey) a right pain in the ass, over half my relations and mates support them muppets and they are normally a right gobby crowd but they do seem abit quiet about saturday but if we did lose, feck they'd be bad worse then the s****. But i reckon we'll do them 3-1 so let them ;)

Liverpool support was shocking, worst home support I have ever seen AND i have been to Fulham before !

Now that is bad. Fulham is dreadful.

So many of their fans seem to want to be entertained rather than win. The amount of complaining over our time wasting at the end. If I was a spurs fan I'd want Spurs to do exactly the same as they might actually win something.

Strange indeed.

spoke to a few at Lime St and they were ok to be honest...all praising Liverpool esp gerrard, Finnan and Sissoko

they seeemd to like us and were particularly impressed with the reception that Robinson got off our lot

Yeah but if Robbie Keane had put away that chance after half time and it was Spurs doing it (which they would have been) there'd be loads of us moaning about it too - me included! :) Can't blame 'em for that myself.

where were you sat? it was like a library in the first half?

Second half made up for it. Don't normally get that that noise unless we're in Europe or playing Utd, Everton, Arsenal etc. Pleased that we piped up before we scored the goal.

Does anyone know if Spurs fans have any particular issue with Kewell? Some of the idiots at the pub were calling him a "f***ing w*****" all through the game.
