MY present greatest FEAR

The rate that Stevie's playing, theres no human way that he can keep up with the number of games hes involved in.

We are still in ALL competitions(cept the worhless cup) and looking at his work rate, its bonkers that he can keep up with this!

Whats to be done? :( Would you rather him playing in CL or PL games?

I think he and Rafa have it covered. Some players are better than others at playing often and hard, and it seems Stevie is one of these - Beardsley was another, as was Terry MacDermott...right couple of enrgiser bunnies. I'm sure as was stated earlier in the season Rafa and Stevie are on top of it and they'll rest him when they feel he needs a rest - however, he is enjoying his football and where he's playing it thesedays - and that takes you a long way further than some might think.

I must admit, I was amazed he played yesterday. He really does need a break, so does Sami. I would imagine Stevie will sit out one if not 2 of the next 4/5 games.

I read online today that Lampard and Terry have been given a week off by Chelsea and are in Dubai. I know the money machine that is Chelsea has afforded them this luxury but its an important factor in sustaining challenges on all (most fronts)

Are you saying Stevie's not as good as Lampard? :)

How many games did he play on the trot?

I think that if you leave him out, you run the risk of him losing form

I see no reason why he can't go on and on, like Lampard did for such a long time

Good point - and they've (Stevie and Rafa) already gone public about how they will cope with this if it becomes a problem. Let them get on with it.

Stevie's not a kid anymore, he's a grown man whose body can handle 90 minutes twice a week. Let him play until he drops. Same goes for all the other players.

Giving him a rest when he doesn't need it is silly, and risks upsetting his form.

No thats NOT the point i am trying to make.......

First of All, SG covers more round and play than Lamps......that takes alotta energy. Its not the games on the trot per se BUT the energy thats put in per game, and SG sure puts in more than any one in the PL. No one comes near his energy levels at all........the last player to come near that was Viera.

Next, when do we rest him if not vs teams like Luton? Can you see him resting at all, if not in this sort of game? i do fear for his body.......it can only take much...... :(

Gerrard had a game last weekend, a game this weekend and isn't palying again until next weekend. That's plenty of a break for a fit lad who is only 25 years old. Anyway, as long as Xabi is helping Stevie to not have to make big runs by scoring from 70 yards, then he will save energy anyway.

anybody who says that 'stevie gerrard really does need a break' is talking out of their a***.

if he needed a break he'd get one. we haven't got an idiot for a manager and we've certainly got cover.

it's his game. it's the way he plays. why would he need a break?

I think people kinda assume that the 100mph speed he plays at means he MUST need a break soon. Maybe he's just built that way though.

Heard a journo at the weekend moaning SteG would be shattered for the World Cup. Here's hoping!

Lampard covers a hell of a lot of ground most stats have him above gerrad in that apparment but the differance is gerrad is involved in a lot of tackling and hurly burly which is a bigger energy zapper than just running around.

MY greatest fear was when his studs slipped on the concrete during the BBC post match interview. Bloody sh@t meself. Someone falling over's alway's got comedy value but not when it's Stevie G!

but he doesnt play at 100 mph all the time....If you watch him, he plays in bursts now....he conserves energy during a game

he is far more focused in his movement thank he has ever been

While Stevie is in this rich vein of form and scoring goals we can't afford to rest him. As well as us still being alive on three fronts I think Stevie will also be motivated with the media references to Lampard and his durability and goalscoring. I look for him and Lampard to run neck and neck for Player of the Year.

I don't expect Lampard to be in the running for Player of the Year to be honest. I expect it to be between Stevie and Rooney

My biggest fear... is exploding teeth!

You know what this means right? 'Exploding teeth' is just another way of saying you fear to be sexual impotent.

Ever had a dream about teeth falling out? :bleh:
