On one hand a terrifically strong, tough tackling player with a great engine the like I don't think I've ever seen. Great at making a nuisance of himself and breaking up attacks. His presence in the team has helped us in many a game this season.

On the other hand his passing is as bad as any midfielder I've seen us have in fifteen years of watching us and his touch is down there with Cisse's. I also fear for us in a scrappy game where he's likely to get himself booked and sent off. He's also a diving little t***. I'm fed up of him going down like he's been napalmed when he get's clipped.

He may be similar to Vieira in terms of builld and in a defensive sense, but he will never ever be as talented as him. He is not comfortable in possession and unfortunately that is something you have from and early age and don't think it can be picked up. Sure you can improve, but not to the extent it requires for him to be on a par with Vieira.

I don't think I've ever flip flopped on an opinion of a player so much as I do with Sissoko. On one hand Alan Green is saying he's a great player, the next Journo's are reporting he's the worst player to play for Liverpool in years! I don't think we've had a player who divides the media to that extent either.

hes only 20.. I saw him a lot for Valencia since he made his debut and Armstrong who for me is one of the most knowlegdeable pundits marked him out as a potentially a great player.. what ive seen him of at Liverpool hes done well

I don't quite get this 'passing as bad as....' that seems to get thrown up every time. It seems if people say something often enough - it becomes fact.

He's no Alonso, but he's also not that poor at it either. Yesterday in the first half, he actually passed better than players who you expect to be good passers!

Anyway, he ain't here to be a great passer, neither was/is Hamann, they have their jobs and will do it for the team.

So long as Momo's short passing game continues to improve, he'll be some player, as he's already got a lot about him at a young age. He's rough around the edges, and needs to learn to stay on his feet, but he'll get there.

by the way whats with this calling him a t***?

I think the tackle that got him booked was quite unneccessary and seemed to inject a little fire into the Luton players. Momo is on the pitch to protect the artists of the team and his misplaced aggression in that moment might have had the effect of getting our players involved in more of a battle.

I reckon he has a great overall effect on the team though and the opposition must think twice about throwing their weight around when he's on the pitch.

He should think more about protection than starting scraps though as the effect could be the opposite of what is desired.

It was not misplaced aggression. he went in for a sliding tackle and was a split second late. It looked far worse than it actually was. Hence the point a couple of posts ago about getting him to stay on his feet - which i think he is getting better at since he got sent off (Rafa deliberately leaving him on as a lesson to him in that match was very clever)

At the moment I think he is a little over-rated by our own fans, largely because he runs around a lot and tries to get involved as much as possible. Maybe what Rafa said about Gerrard last year - "we need to control his running" applies to Sissoko aswell. He's still young and he'll improve, that's the key.

Unlucky with that tackle. Like has been said, just a split second away from winning it. He'll keep going for those, it's what makes him so crucial to us and what makes him a smashing player. In time, he'll win a whole lot more than he would lose.

I think this last paragraph sums up your post, these are not your views from watching the player, these are your views based on media opinion.

Can't remmember what age Vieira was when he arrived, possibly not as young as Sissoko, yet I do remmember him being a bit raw, a bit rash in the tackle, and I also remember him improving alot, to say Sissoko can not improve to this level is like the original post plain bloody stupid.

I think that the rough edges that he has at the moment will smooth out over time under Rafa, so i wouldnt be too concerned

I think Sissoko's a very good player and I think he's been a great signing. He seems to have made a tremendous difference to our competitiveness this season.

Yesterday was interesting, though. I wondered if once he picked up the yellow card, he semi withdrew from the fray - not wanting to risk getting the red and get suspended. He and/or Rafael Benitez may consider that an FA Cup tie in Luton isn't worth that - and I'd tend to agree with them.

The fella who wrote he is "the worst ever Liverpool player" is the know nothing c*** that is Paul McCarthy. A f***ing chavski rent boy prick who watches us twice a year.

Sissoko is f***ing class. Vieria isn't special on the ball, neither are the likes of Gatusso or Keane. Momo is a f***ing animal and ha sbeen one of our top 5 players this season. If you look at last nights first goal that was all down to him steaming into a tackle high up the pitch to regain posseision.

Don't worry about Momo, he's a legend in the making.

Your being harsh on the "diving" too. He goes down quite theatrically but at least he goes down when he's touched unlike players like Diouf, Ronaldo etc. Vieria was a diving c*** at times too like at Anfield last season and Momo is not a lot more theatrical than Stevie imo.

HE'S A MONSTER :D

He's good, but a bit raw and sometimes lacks composure. I prefer Didi to Momo. In a big game I'd definitely start with Didi.

He was very poor indeed yesterday. Still a very good player though.

I happen to think we wouldn't have found ourselves in the position we were in against Luton if Hamann had been playing. As for Sissoko, he is collecting yellow cards like some people collect foreign stamps. :hmm:

i think that's the key with sissoko. of course he's going to pick up yellow cards, 'cos that's his game. he's aggressive, something which we've lacked in recent years. i'm made up with him as a signing, think he's been brilliant considering his age and playing in a league totally alien to him.

he puts them under clingfilm in a big book which he thumbs through on quiet evenings with a glass of brandy?

He is the closest player we have to Didi, and given time will prove to be just as vital.

What a load of s****. His passing isn't bad, and either is his touch. Sometimes he misplaces a pass and sometimes he miscontrols the ball but most of the time his passing is decent and his touch is excellent. He's made a huge difference for us this season.

He's a phenomenal talent and we should apprectiate what we have.

Posted

I love him, and his passing is a lot better than he's given credit on here. FFS you'd think every pass he makes went to the oppo the way some go on about it.

Rather him than the likes of Murphy.

Posted

It's not so much Momo's pass accuracy that needs improving, it's the weight he's putting on the pass. They're getting cutout, not because he's playing them blind, but more that they're not reaching their target.

Thats something that will improve with training and experience.

Nobody is looking for Momo to be playing 40-50 yard passes. He's in there to win the ball back and play it simple to either Alonso or Gerrard. At the moment he's winning the ball fine, its just a matter of improving his passing technique.

dont know where this idea comes from, probably some idea offered up by a hack pundit.Anything can be worked on and improved.

He's a class player and improving.

Just begs the question really, that if we bring in a right winger, Xabi and Stevie are going to be the obvious choices for centre-mid, so where will Momo fit into all of this? Especially in the long term. Can we play all three, whilst having someone on the left and right? Not unless we only play one upfront as far as I can see.

my god what a weird thread....

sissoko is 20! only been at the club 6months...and has been vital to our recent success...

of course hes rough around the edges, hes still young, still learning the game not to mention coming to a different country.

Hes the team to do the dirty work, hes there for his energy, hes in the side to make room for alonso...and hes doing a fantastic job, yes he gets booked in nearly every game....but his game is always gonna be likely yo get him tons of bookings...

cant make ya mind up about sissoko?????????

just look at our results this season, hes been vital.
