So Crisp features pronounciation of Xabi's name is spot on. Don't thank me

Elisha_Scott Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Letters at the start of a word have different rules for those in the middle. As far as i'm aware, Xabi is pronounced Zabi, with a very slight Conneryesque slur on the Z. Not a Ch, but a Zsh However, i could be completely and utterly wrong.1143853 Indeed, you are spot f***ing on mate.Posts merged:did he f***...he said..."get your wallet out you tight fisted c***" 1144142 Touche

Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Touche1144143 so hows that pronounced? 1144147 that was the name of the player that Pablo Alfaro (a certified medical doctor, no less!) of Sevilla gave a rectal examination some time ago, at a corner. was his debut as well, the poor lad. You couldn't make it up.
Guest Makaveli Smith Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Xabi should be pronounced Chavi.1143785 im not sure why they dont pronounce it as a v here but in this case its chabi
Guest Apocolypse-Jim Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Xabi should be pronounced Chavi.1143785 Are you sayin ' our Xabi ' is a Chav you feckin cant ??.
abc Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 According to my teacher (off a CD mind), in Spanish the letter 'v' is pronounced almost like a 'b'. Says it's a 'v' but with your lips closed as you say it. The sample word they used was reservation: pronounced as reserbacion. Hence, Xavi from Barca is pronounced like Xabi. Same name, just a different spelling. Bit like Desmund and Desmond. And the double 'l's in Villareal is pronounced as a 'y', if I'm not mistaken. And 'c' is only pronounced as a 'th' in Madrid (and a few other places?), it's known as Castillian. PRobably some dialect, maybe just the accent.
