Flight Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 SSN reporting the Mancs are tieing up a deal for Evra. Evras agent quoted as saying the deal will be done within the next week.
Bailo Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Two things: 1) Are they that worried about Heinze? Or can he play CB? 2) Wish we'd been in for him, though £5.5m for a position we have 3 possibles I guess is a misuse of finances.
Serko Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 aren't we meant to be after a Valencia left back on a free in the summer?
hagi_complex Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Heinze can play centre back. This looks like the end for Silvestre.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 it does. I can't see evra benching Heinze when both fit though. good squad player for them though.
jimmylibel Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 What I find interesting about this is that he wanted to leave them for us in the summer but seemed quite happy to wait until we matched Monaco's valuation (which was supposed to be in the region of £10million in the summer). Now the Mancs come in and all of a sudden he's refusing to train for Monaco and is demanding a move - and his price has dropped to £5.5million. Something doesn't quite add up there.
Boca Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Ferguson has confirmed the deal is done. Skysports
anny road Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 with Vidic coming in, I think it points to conceres over Heinze He isnt back up is he Good ol Kormkamp...Hat with Luis finishing Keane and now Jan doing Heinze
Bigal Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 A Manc workmate is flabbergasted at the deal. Does he play centre midfield? Or is that where the mancs will be picking him
Boca Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 If they could only buy 3 or 4 decent midfielders they might become a force again.
Gilps Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 A Manc workmate is flabbergasted at the deal. Does he play centre midfield? Or is that where the mancs will be picking him1141765 They can now afford to give O'Shea a few more games in central midfield. Where that leaves poor old Alam Smith is anyone's guess.
MarkD Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Same theme from me, more defenders to protect them as they have nothing in midfield. Strange recruiting policy.
Tosh Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 so Heinze, Evra, Neville, Brown, Silvestre Oshea and Ferdinand infront of van der Saar That's a lot of defenders. Yes a shame they have no midfield but that's a pretty strong foundation to build a solid side from Reports of their demise apepar to have been exaggerated
Guest Jack Bauer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Their midfield isn't strong, just because they signed Vidic and Evra doesn't mean much, their midfield is still crap and I don't rate Ronaldo that highly.
spencer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Their midfield isn't strong, just because they signed Vidic and Evra doesn't mean much, their midfield is still crap and I don't rate Ronaldo that highly.1142078 Pretty much my take on things; I'm actually quite pleased they are splashing their currently limited resources in areas that are not crucial. Evra repacing Heinze for the rest of the season will not make any difference to their season - they still won't win the league or the CL (obviously) and only one of them can play LB next season. If they intend moving Heinze to CB, why buy Vidic? Their midfield is a complete disaster; Giggs and Scholes past it, Ronaldo over-rated, and the rest second-rate. If they'd got Ballack or someone of that quality, I would have been worried but anyone who watched the Arsenal-ManU game could see that the midfields on both sides were quality-free zones and buying more defenders won't make up for the deficiencies there.
Guz Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 It's all about squad depth. Their strength defence isn't too hot, it's not just central midfield. Silvestre isn't good enough, Wes 'Ive been tangoed' Brown cant be relied upon just due to his injuries and Camel face goes missing too regularly. So that leaves Neville and Heinze along with dross like O'Shea. Vidic and Evra will improve their squad definitley. I can only imagine Whiskey nose's midfield targets aren't availible at the moment so he has to wait till the Summer but that doesn't mean he has no plans on filling the gaps.

Guest Scot Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Where that leaves poor old Alam Smith is anyone's guess.1141771 F*cking Sven?
crisps Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 might as well play:- -------------------van der saar------------------------neville--rio---vidic---brown---heinze------evra ronaldo---------------------------------park------------rooney---van nistelrooy-----------------
Guest Kyo Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 what a f***ing ridiculous thing to say.1142540 Yes what a mong he is.
Romario Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 1 or 2 great midfelders and the Mancs have a brilliant team again. Rooney Ruud and Ronaldo when on form are are brilliant forward line for any team in the world. They've been crap in europe for some reason but considering how crap thw midfield is they have done a brilliant job up front. It's scary to think what they could do with decent players behind them. Persoally I'm gonna wait before slagging them off.
Ostrich Man Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Persoally I'm gonna wait before slagging them off.1142703since f***ing when
