Guest Red Mist Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 The pro-Souey camp is blaming injuries for their wretched season! We hard worse injuries last season and it wasn't until the last month of the season that we had anything resembling a fully fit squad yet we won the CL and finished 5th (which was considered a major failure, despite the injuries). This is what separates the big boys and the also-rans (or the utter sh*te, as is the case with Newcastle). We coped well with all our injuries, and at times it was fecking depressing but we came through to show our mettle. The Geordies don't have that kind of spirit or courage. And that's why they're in the pits while we are Gods of Europe.
Spike Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 lol, this made me laugh: Ok lads, we can do what we can tomorrow, but i believe Mansfield will be the perfect oppurtunity to raise this issue further, with proper planning and organisation. Please understand that tomorrow will be a rush job, and the best we can hope for is EVERYONES backing for the Mansfield game. I've got me student mates on 2m x 2m banners for that game. Howay lads, heed this advice.
WelshSpikeMikey Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 And while we're on Newcastle, a post from that thread ... would take a deal that involved us gettin woody grav + money for luque like
Hassony Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 They should go after Alan Curbishley.1134157they should go for big sam, who is a better manager than curbs, and seems to know how to deal with big egos
crisps Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 they should go for big sam, who is a better manager than curbs, and seems to know how to deal with big egos1134203 Allardyce also gave Stelios his first start of the season after saying he felt he was a ?Greek god? who needed to get his feet back on the ground after the European championships.
stressederic Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 they should go for big sam, who is a better manager than curbs, and seems to know how to deal with big egos1134203 The thing is I'd quite like to see Curbs be given the cash and opportunity at a bigger club, whereas I'd also quite like 'Big Sam' to rot down at Notlob pretending he's already at a big club.
Gomez Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Good news - Allardyce is their prefered choice to succeed Souness The question on Tyneside continues to be when Souness goes rather than if, with Sam Allardyce the leading candidate to replace him. It is believed the compensation Newcastle would have to pay Bolton Wanderers is not prohibitive and that Allardyce would be prepared to accept a position he declined prior to Souness's appointment in September 2004.1137558 Can you imagine how happy Owen would be to play the ale house footballing style that is the only one fat sam knows? Then again, as bascombe said yesterday, chewie is being lined up for the engerlund job in the summer (which makes me think why go to barcodes now?), so I supposed he'd better get use to is sooner rather than later.
jimmylibel Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Good news - Allardyce is their prefered choice to succeed Souness Guardian linkage Souness on the brink of exit from Newcastle Michael WalkerWednesday January 4, 2006The Guardian Graeme Souness's grip on the manager's job at Newcastle United, which seemed to have been maintained by Lee Clark's injury-time equaliser against Middlesbrough at St James' Park on Monday, may be forcibly relinquished before Newcastle host Mansfield Town in the FA Cup on Saturday. The question on Tyneside continues to be when Souness goes rather than if, with Sam Allardyce the leading candidate to replace him. It is believed the compensation Newcastle would have to pay Bolton Wanderers is not prohibitive and that Allardyce would be prepared to accept a position he declined prior to Souness's appointment in September 2004. Article continuesThere was much activity at St James' yesterday and Souness may have been reassured that some of it centred on an attempt to prise Danny Murphy from Charlton Athletic. Newcastle are willing to offer Amdy Faye, bought by Souness for £2m a year ago, and Lee Bowyer as bait. But Souness's future was also understood to be on the hierarchy's agenda. Doubts at board level pre-date the Carling Cup defeat at Wigan in November, when the chairman Freddy Shepherd's car was surrounded by fans demanding Souness's removal. Wigan had seven of their reserve team playing that night. On Monday, with Newcastle trailing 2-1, there were chants of "Souness Out" from the Gallowgate End. Souness said he did not want to hear Wigan mentioned after beating Arsenal and West Ham but it will be brought up after every poor result because the League Cup offered a chance of a trophy in Alan Shearer's last season. The Middlesbrough match followed weak efforts at Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Before travelling to Tottenham Souness had a run-in with Stephen Carr, who was being asked to play at White Hart Lane after being out injured for two and a half months.Having observed how Emre Belozoglu and Kieron Dyer broke down after being brought back early, Carr said no. One man who did travel to Spurs was Glenn Roeder, who sat with Shepherd. Roeder, formerly manager of West Ham, is now academy director at Newcastle and is likely to be interim manager should Souness go before the Mansfield match.1137558 Read an article by Michael Walker from a couple of days ago in which he described the 'famous loyalty' of Newcastle fans...
Stevie H Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 they should get robby bobson back in as caretaker manager.
AE Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Just think of the poor little Welsh people as we mock the toons plight. Them that may never know a Champions League or Premiership medal.........
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 they should get a continental manager. Curbishley and Jewell are the only English managers who even attempt to play the kind of expansive football a squad like Newcatsle's is geared towards and I can't see either leaving right now.

Boca Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Parker is out for two months now. They are totally screwed. sky sports
Benitez Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 and it gets even worse for the Toon. Now Parker is out for up to 8 weeks. ere

Apart from the FA Cup it's unlikely he's going to achieve anything greater with Charlton. He'll get money from Shepherd aswell. He's a manager I really like though and would be a good choice for Newcastle i think.

Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 they may end up with Shearer as player manager.1137951 I don't get it. When has he ever been a part of a winning formulae to make them think he can do the job?
Big G Superhero Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Souey now after Anelka apparently, although not much substance in the Yahoo story... you couldn't make it up though!! Match made in heaven Edited January 4, 2006 by Big G Superhero

Bootle Buck Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 They need to fecking sack Shepherd while they are at it. Here is a club that gets 50,000 fans every game and yet continues to be more interested in Alan Shearer breaking goal scoring records than anything else. They have had a joke of a defence in years, saved only by Shay Given's miraculous perfromances. Yet they continuouisly throw silly money on poorer defenders, attackers who can't score and midfielders who can't defend. How long will they allow the clown to run the Circus.
