Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool are in discussions with Villarreal over a defender swap deal that will see Jan Kromkamp move to Anfield with Josemi moving the other way.

 

Kromkamp has failed to settle at El Madrigal following his summer move from AZ Alkmaar, finding it difficult to establish himself in the first team ahead of Javi Venta.

 

Josemi has long been rumoured to be leaving Anfield in the New Year, with Sevilla having been the most likely destination.

 

However, that move appeared to be breaking down due to the Spanish club's reluctance to meet the asking-price and boss Rafael Benitez' desire to have a ready-made replacement.

 

Therefore, this swap deal would suit all parties, with Kronkamp hoping that the move would boost his chances of being included in Holland's squad for the forthcoming World Cup.

But, I guess it's a case of that Josser isn't settled over here, he isn't settled in Spain - so nothing to lose

How much did Villareal pay for him? ie. did they pay more than what we paid for Josemi ?
