Hoff Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Scored from inside our half after the whistle had been blown for a foul by Crouch in the 2nd half. I don't think he did it to waste time because he seemed to hit it as soon as the whistle blew. Martyn was just inside their penalty and box and he had no chance of getting it.

Eiler99 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Can't wait till he scores one of those. He's come real close a few times already.
Hoff Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 There was one against the mancs at OT last season which was really close.
anny road Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 that was class...and instinctive.....it wasnt even a foul either..... What a finish....
Hassony Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Can't wait till he scores one of those. He's come real close a few times already.1130897no doubt it will be labelled as "a beckham"
Jonesy Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 no doubt it will be labelled as "a beckham"1130942 he doesn't like becks he's more of a Cruz Campo man!
tag Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 no doubt it will be labelled as "a beckham"1130942 I miss Andy Gray's "beckham territory!!"
stressederic Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 "beckham territory!!" 1131200 I think thats used as a warning sign around Spanish PA Offices now. Allegedly.
abc Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I'm surprised he hasn't already scored one of them. He's got the ability, and also the willingness to hit them accurately. I bet he pictures the crossbar as a teammate's chest, cause he arrows passes to their feet so well.
Mad_Fer_It Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Hope we arm chair fans get to see it soon
Foo Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Hope we arm chair fans get to see it soon1131240 Have to say I see I didn't see it and I haven't seen it before either in any game at all.
fyds Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Have to say I see I didn't see it and I haven't seen it before either in any game at all.1131247I saw it at the game, but in none of the playbacks since. Xabi tries this every now and again, being the most aware player on the pitch. he'll get one sooner or later.
Dule Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Xabi is class, we all know taht, but why the f*** is he so bad at crossing, and why the f*** are his set pieces so s***?
fyds Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 His crosses are rare but usually good, and set pieces are usually subhumed to Gerrard
abc Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Agree with fyds. He puts in his best ones from the edge of the box when we have a corner cleared. He puts alot of height and dip on them, to try and beat the offside trap.
mercury Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 around when and who did the foul on Crouch?
Guest YKI Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) I heard that he wasn't trying to score but hit some spotty, mouthy fifteen year old who kept shouting 'murderers', in the face. That Xabi is useless, I'll have to hire a hitman next time. Edited December 30, 2005 by YKI
anny road Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Have to say I see I didn't see it and I haven't seen it before either in any game at all.1131247 at Sunderland he was ppractising them before kick off......and tried one there too he has tried maybe 3 or 4...he did one straight from a kick off also And the one at United was very good...Carroll had to drop the ball in front of him to stop him taking it over the line
Buzz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 ...Carroll had to drop the ball in front of him to stop him taking it over the line1131393 A premiership keeper like him would never do that would he?.
Kite Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 His crosses are rare but usually good, and set pieces are usually subhumed to Gerrard1131267"Sub", meaning low or lower; "Hum" being to create a tune with one's mouth closed... Alonso apparently gives instructions to Gerrard at set pieces, very quietly, with his mouth closed, through the use of popular tunes? (I notice the number one tune at the mo is "That's my goal", which would be a good one I guess?!)
anny road Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 around when and who did the foul on Crouch?1131308 it was midway through the second half andI honestly cant remember who was involved with Crouch....but basically there was a tussle, the ref blew for a foul, as the ball fell, and at the same time as the whistle blew, Xabi hit the ball on the half volley, 1st time..........Martyn was stood about a yard outside his box, and Xabi's shot flew over his head into the net, dead centre of the goal...if the whistle hadnt have blown, and I am convinced it wasnt a foul, Xabi would have scored the greatest derby goal everPosts merged:Xabi is class, we all know taht, but why the f*** is he so bad at crossing, and why the f*** are his set pieces so s***?1131265 what are you talking about? His set pieces are fine...........His corissing isnt the best but then he isnt a winger is he
aka Dus Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Agree with fyds. He puts in his best ones from the edge of the box when we have a corner cleared. Guest lobo Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Can't wait till he scores one of those. He's come real close a few times already.1130897 Didn't take long
