Andythered Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 A bit harsh is right. S.G. should have got 9. Kewell 8. Crouchy 8 - he won the game with an excellenty taken 1st goal - the rest of the game we got what we now expect. What would we give the blues**** btw?
Bootle Buck Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Reina 7Finnan 7.5Carra 7.5 a little rattled for a few minutesSami 7Warnock 6. We need Riise as our regular LBKewell 6.5Momo 6. All over the place but his distribution was poorXabi 7 A little off tonight but still dominatedSG 8 Great running first half but was asked to sit deeper. I will give him MOM for his goal and setting up CrouchyCisse 7. Henryesque goal taking Would have been an ideal game for him but we didn't really need to push it.Crouch 7. Great goal, quiet otherwise
Guest JV Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 I agree with the above, maybe give Warnock 5.5 thought he was s**** once again. The lad seems to have gone downhill.

Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Another poor Kewell performance then according to our experts.
Guest efcrmagic Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Carragher MOM? He had feck all to do.
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Carragher MOM? He had feck all to do.1130112 Can you type in a bigger, bolder font please, I can't see your post sorry. I think it's the glare from this shiny fifth European Cup.
zimmie4444 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 JOSE REINA- 7. Always alert, always very quick with his distribution, for as much as the defence has been praised in recent months, maybe Reina's contribution has gone a little unrecognised. Don't think he had any chance with the goal, personally. STEVE FINNAN- 7. Unflappable as always. Got forward well when needed, solid at the back. JAMIE CARRAGHER- 7. Dealt with the 'Everton threat' in his usual commanding manner. SAMI HYYPIA- 7. Ditto. STEVEN WARNOCK- 6. A decent performance from somebody who hasn't featured alot lately, although a few ropey moments. STEVEN GERRARD- 9. Drove the team exceptionally well, well taken goal, brilliant instinctive header to lay on Crouch for the opener. MOMO SISSOKO- 7. Combative in midfield, could have distributed better though. XABI ALONSO- 7. Difficult to impose his natural controlled passing game on such a high tempo game, but still showed his class at times. HARRY KEWELL- 7. Good performance. Got at the Everton defenders when he could and created alot of openings going forward. DJIBRIL CISSE- 8. Worked hard and scored an excellent goal, which he took brilliantly after some initial good fortune. Linked up well with Crouch too. PETER CROUCH- 8. Led the line well and showed great composure with the opener. Always a threat.
nashman Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 on reina and his organization of the defense..did anyone notice how for one of the corners reina pulled momo back and pointed as if to say "this is where u stand boy"

Guest BigChief Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Reina - 7 - Usual commanding saves. I was glad to see him catch the ball on two occasions when he could have just tipped it over the bar - thus saving a needless corner. Great decision making and throw outs. A few dodgy kicks and one spilt save but not too dangerous. Finnan - 6 - An opposing team has finally found his weakness. Got beaten in the air numerous times by Kilbane, one leading to their goal. Carragher - 6.5 - Was not happy with the indecisions between our CBs during set pieces and corners. One indecision led to their goal, there were other times Everton should simply have scored as there wasn't a CB in sight to head the ball away. Hyppia - 6.5 - see Carra Warnock - 5.5 - Good second half, but rubbish first half. Could be because he hasn't played enough recently. Gerrard - 8 - Excellent driving football. Caused all sorts of problems, but whenever he came in we were off balance on the right when he simply wasn't there for a simple pass. Sissoko - 6 - Not his usual self. Still, didn't force himself into a card which is a good sign of maturity. Alonso - 6.5 - Got shut down early by Cahill. Moyes has obviously seen what Sao Paolo were doing to him and did the same. It worked, Alonso could not find his range. Kewell - 6 - Good ball for Cisse. Getting back match sharpness and you can feel an end product coming along. Didn't do enough today to merit a higher rating. Cisse - 7.5 - Great goal, great effort for the team. Could have done more but a lack of starts doesn't help. Crouch - 8 - Just pips Gerrard for MOTM (by .1 of a point). Missing Michael who? Subs not on long enough for rating. Moyes - 6 - Got a few things right today (Kilbane, Cahill). Got many things wrong (Weir against Cisse? Asking for trouble). Benitez - 9 - Won the game in second gear in a derby!
Knox_Harrington Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Thought Finnan was nothing short of magnificent myself. He didn't lose a header second half and was a constant outlet and genuine threat. He didn't give the ball away either.
Koogan Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Thought Finnan was nothing short of magnificent myself. He didn't lose a header second half and was a constant outlet and genuine threat. They did lose uncharacteristically many headers and Finnan lost two extremely dangerous ones. And ugly Dunc wasn't even playing...
mercury Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Thought the whole back line, except Reina, was below par and took their feet off the gas after 2-0 up. But must say that Warnock did not impress, again unfortunately. In the midfield Momo was also below par, Xabi and Gerrard were OK by their high standards but Kewell played well. Say what you like about his pace or form, his decision making on the pitch is top notch. This can't be coached and no matter what won't be lost. There is no coincidence that with him and of course our now excellent off the ball movement our final third has become so much more incisive Very happy with Crouch and Cisse and were chuffed with their very well taken goals as with the improvement in the work rate and link play of Cisse. Some b******ing from Rafa (I'm sure) and Cisse early goal in the second settled the nerves and the whole team played much better. Great result. Losing the clean sheet was disappointing but put it in another light, it's good to get the record off our back in a 3-1 win. Onwards and upwards.
fred milne Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 I agree with the above, maybe give Warnock 5.5 thought he was s**** once again. The lad seems to have gone downhill.1129980He was a bit ropey in the first half but did much better in the second half. Linked up well with Kewell I thought. He is a frustrating player - when he is on top of his game his distribution can be very useful indeed but at other times he rushes his passes horribly (e.g. against Sao Paolo). He's needs to iron out these inconsistencies (and quickly) if he is to have any future at the club.
