Kahnee Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Coming on trial apparently And for those too lazy to click: Liverpool's search for a right winger has prompted the club to hand a trial to Costa Rican youngster Cristian Bolanos. The 21-year-old impressed the Reds coaching staff at the recent Fifa World Club Championship in Japan. Bolanos' club Deportivo Saprissa lost 3-0 to Liverpool in the semi-final of the competition, but he caught the eye of Rafa Benitez. His display against the European champions has led to Liverpool inviting Bolanos over for a trial in the New Year. Saprissa manager Jeaustin Campos revealed on Costa Rican television that Bolanos would be heading to Anfield in January. Bolanos scored the goal which set up the meeting with Liverpool in the Far East, when Saprissa beat Sydney 1-0.
Ombudsam Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 he was good on the left for them in our game. didn't really notice him when he went right
Maldini Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 He looked pretty good alright, was really good in their first game, got a cracker. He looks a hell of a lot older than 21 though. I wonder if we'd get a permit for him, where are Costa Rica ranked?

Not sure though.Posts merged:They're #21 in the FIFA World Rankings.

Owen1978 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Looked decent Its basically £500,000 gamble But if Rafa see's something in him, then its not a gamble at all!
Maldini Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 21st? proof that those rankings are a joke, the Concacaf region is ridiculously overrated.
Anfield Fox Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I would prefer that Brazilian right winger who we faced in the European Super Cup Final in Monaco. Daniel Carvalho. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Carvalho But this Saprissa lad impressed me. Would be a steal for 500k.

Weren't he a left winger?
Maldini Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Carvalho is a left winger yeah, all left foot.
Anfield Fox Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Maldini said: Carvalho is a left winger yeah, all left foot.1128693[/snapback] My bad then. With Kewell, Riise, Zenden and hopefully Gonzalez i guess we wouldn't need him although i would love it if we could have him anyway. Pure class and would be cheap. Back on topic, Bolanos would be the next best thing!
chrisbonnie Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 have to admit i cant say i noticed the lad when we played against Saprissa, granted, i did watch it in a pub on a dodgy tv and Carvalho is signing for Benfica, i think i read that on the uefa website, but yeah, he looked dangerous
Maldini Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 if Carvalho is signing for Benfica I'd say Simao is on his way
CarraLegend Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I've seen nothing about Carvalho signing for them, not even on any of their forums. They are in talks to sign a winger from Maritimo I think it is though, he's meant to be doing alright in that League and plays on the left apparently (Where they play Simao)
chrisbonnie Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 ive tried looking myself for a few stories but cant see any, i coulda swore it was on the uefa website
