anny road Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) When Elisha posted that we were after him, there were alot of raised high brows...I thought it was nonsense....Then when we signed him, even I questioned Rafa's judgement (privatley of course ) Then he plays and everyone was impressed by his touch and ability, however he isnt a goal scorer, not good enough in front of goal..a freak according to some...a joke according to the press...and a laughing stock of opposing fans......a pundits dream... Yet he never hid..even when Chavs finest when Ingerlund played, he still carried on....bolstered by our support, and the support of his team mates WELL WHOSE f***ING LAUGHING NOW EH????? His touch yesterday was exceptional, his awareness of team mates and overalll work rate was second to none..... Thanks Rafa for singing him AND THANKS PETER....for ignoring the t***s who thought they were clever....As the banner says Form is temporary...class is permanent Welll done Big Man Edited December 27, 2005 by anny road
Kahnee Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 raised high brows...1128143 Have to disagree with this Dave - nothing around here is highbrow
Hightown Phil Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 That touch when he was on his a***, stuck his leg in the air and it went to Gerrard was awesome.
David Hodgson Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 That touch when he was on his a***, stuck his leg in the air and it went to Gerrard was awesome.1128168 No, it was just funny.
Morse Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 No, it was just funny.1128170 Yes I agree with the first poster, Crouchie is an amazingly good signing. I still cannot believe the success of it. He will never be accepted in the same way as most "conventional" strikers in the press, but he will get the support he needs from Liverpool fans.
CarraLegend Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 He's been outstanding for us, the usual bellends will still be absent from this thread though as they cant admit to being wrong.
chrisbonnie Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 i gotta hold my hands up as well i was fuming when we signed him, well, not fuming, but definatly doubting Rafas method, its the last time ill do that the lad is class, a mate of mine (villa fan) at the start of the season was slagging the s*** out of me, saying Baros was 20 times the player Crouchie was, he`s since changed his tune great signing, and funnily, when we quipped about the price, its a f***ing bargain now
Tones Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Hes superb at the minute. Confidence is high and everything is going through him. One of our most important players at the minute. I was a little mystified by Rafas decision to go for him, but hats off to Rafa. He knew what he wanted and now so do we.
Logic Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Agree. Was a bit worried about him signing but he's proved himself to be a very good player. Much better than I thought he would ever be. Just sad that the media and FA seem to have jumped on the ABC campaign. Anyone But Crouch gets his goals.
Dave_the_Red Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 He's a great player no doubt about that. Well in Rafa
Guest Anders Honoré Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Anyone worth their salt could see he should be playing for a top club like Liverpool before Rafa went in for him.
suzyv Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 All the players love him as well especially Gerard and i loved they way he was the first their to stick up for alonso great signing so if raffa brings in some obscure player in the transfer window we must trust him he nows what he wants
Miracle@Istanbul Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 You get loads more for your money with Peter Crouch and he really helps his midfield team mates join in the attacking moves, top signing.
Paul B Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Summed up the feeling of the fans yeaterday when they stood, to a man, to give him a standing ovation when he was subbed. And you know what? He deserved it! It struck home then how we've taken to the big feller and long (whoops) may he reign!
Lee W Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 He's been outstanding for us, the usual bellends will still be absent from this thread though as they cant admit to being wrong.1128214 I was wrong, but I admitted it after the Manc game (I could see the future). Yours,Bellend.
Guest JV Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Its nice to be proven wrong. Well in Crouch.
Tones Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Covers a lot of ground too Crouchy. Not rare to see him on the half way line winning the ball. Also see him run 30 yards to flick on the ball (and he always wins them). A hard working player with a good football brain. And the fact hes a likeable character just makes it better.
Guest sonofshankly Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Im just amazed with how much skill the big man has.And his flicks to other players are just great to see.Well done P.C.
Bootle Buck Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Crouchy's name has to be one of the first on the teamsheet. He puts in an effective 60-70 minutes in most games. I think many Liverpool fans have seen his qualities other than scoring goals and I am sure it has been a pleasant surprise for many of us. The fans love him and he seems to enjoy playing for them. Long may the good form last. I can't see how SGE can leave him off his starting line up either.
Eiler99 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Great signing. And my Crouchamania shirt just arrived this morning. Oooh yeah!
Archangel Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 You can tell why he's such a nightmare to defend against. His physical stature, his control and possesion of the ball and his awareness of the movement around him carry a constant threat. As long as you don't expect him to be prolific in front of goal and appreciate his value as a support striker he's well worth even the kings ransom we were forced to pay for him and quite obviously part of the Benitez masterplan. Its also the reason why some engerlund fans will never accept him as an integral part of the national side
Swipe Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Happy to say i'm being proved wrong by the big fella. I originally though he would be a good foil for, in particular, Gerrard - but after the first few matches I said he wasn't good enough for us. he's shoved that down my throat! Think if we get a crack goalscore with pace to play alongside him, he'll get even better.
