Stevie H Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 why the f*** have sky got some agenda against peter crouch? they've just spent the majority of the post-match coverage trying to say that it was a given OG. i don't normally see any sky studio commentary, so this is a first for me. . . .do they just spend their time trying to generate bullsh*t headlines to publish on sky sports news?
R A Softlad Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 It's officially been given to Given... it will be Crouchies again in a week or so.
KD07 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 The spin on the ball wouldve taken it past the line well over anyway. Clearly Crouchy's.
locutusofliverpool Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 That is most unfortunate, I was watching the game on ESPN Asia and the commentators gave the goal to Crouch and praised the linesman for giving the right call.
StevieC Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Most pro-Liverpool commentary I've heard in a long while (that didn't involve Nial Quinn). Goal bullocks aside.
Guest JV Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Even the newcastle fans cant believe that shlt about the own goal.
DGMO Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 From the angles i've seen, it shows to have hit the post and spun over the goal-line. There doesn't seem to be any touch off Shay Given. Am I the only one who thinks this

Am I the only one who thinks this 1127662 deffo clipped Given but it would have spun in anyway. Regardless of that it's a strikers goal. how they can say OG when it never clearly moved back away from the goal is beyond me. Doubt the same thing would have been picked up by the press if it was Mori who got it.
Guest Red Mist Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 There's an anti-crouchy agenda by the media. Sky gave the goal to Crouch but other media outlets (including the bbc) are giving it to Given! Absolutely ridiculous.
Morgul Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I know the debate isn't about whether the ball crossed the line or not, but if someone needs proof:
Beardsley Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 They're just a bunch of stupid c***ts. I guess Fat Franks goal today was an OG then (yet, another deflection).

For once, I actually thought Sky were being quite fair to us.
Benzo-13 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Rooney would've been given it no bother.. I do think it's an agenda. Marwood was a twerp again today until late on when Newcastle hadn't a hope.

As if Given (or any player) would want an OG!
floyd Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Ian Dark, kept saying it was a debateable goal. Stick to boxing. Like Crouch's response when asked are you claiming it"you trying to take all my goals off me"

pricey Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 did he actually say that 1127834 yes
Maldini Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 If it was anyone else there would be no debate about it. Good to see Crouchy shutting up his detractors again, I think the general population are starting to realise what he's all about, he was great again today

A goal like that happens every couple of weeks in the Premiership, where it hits off the post and then hits the keeper and goes in. Can't believe they are even questionning it to be honest.

Owen1978 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 On the subject of crouch, can we refer to him, as the chinease commentators do, i think it sounds better & funnier and makes me smile! So its.... Crousee
Jeff guitar Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Nice to see that the Newcastle fans are still as thick as ever. 'You'll never play for england' as crouch was substituted - unless it was sung to Bramble.
CarraLegend Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Defo his goal, he headed it so its his goal. f*** what some c*** of a commentator thinks or even the Premier League or whoever.
Frosty Jack Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I don't understand this debate, at all.The player hits it, the keeper attempts to save, and it crosses the line. That is not an own goal, that is just a failed attempt to save, no matter how much contact the keeper has, unless he has it fully under his control and THEN it goes in the net......as long as the ball came from an opposing player it should always stand. f***ing ridiculous this.
