laptop problem

I tried to copy a dvd last night on my laptop.

 

I have done so a good few times with no problems. Anyway last night dvd shrink was backing up the disc to my hard drive when the laptop started making a loud noise like an electric shaver

 

Anyone got any idea what the problem is? Will it be something loose inside the lap top? or will the cd drive need cleaned?
