evilwoody4 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Just bumped into a mate of my brother's who works for Liverpool (merchandise side of things). He reckons that Liverpool's relationship with the Reebok people has soured since the Adidas takeover and that Liverpool wanted to start playing in the new Adidas kit in January, but they couldn't swing it with the Premier League. No pictures yet, but he said he's seen bits n bobs of the Adidas designs (fabrics, badges, trims etc) and that they're really nice. Apparently the away kit is white with a gold pin stripe - reminiscent of our kits from 84-85. He said he'll send me any images he can get hold of.
Kahnee Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Sounds like there's about to be a return to the glory days on all fronts
Huyton_Red Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Are we going with addidas cos they have bought reebok or is it just a commercial deal whereby Adiddas have presented us with a better offer than reebok
Mikael Akerfeldt Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Liverpool's relationship with the Reebok people has soured since the Adidas takeover 1123083 If true this might explain the "supply problems" regarding the Champions League shirt.....
Maldini Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I'd say it's soured bacause Reebok won't make any more kits.
evilwoody4 Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 If true this might explain the "supply problems" regarding the Champions League shirt.....1123095 That's a good point. I've no idea about the ins and outs of why the relationship has soured though. Maybe Liverpool didn't have to move over to Adidas - but they just fancied it and that's put Reebok's noses out of joint?
Maldini Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I read somewhere that this deal is completely seperate from Adidas's takeover of Reebok
Vlad JNR Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 (edited) just found this on ebay - our new kit perhaps? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOOTBALL-SHIRT-LIVER...1QQcmdZViewItem Edited December 21, 2005 by Vlad JNR

Coyler Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 just found this on ebay - our new kit perhaps?1123130That looks like some of the O'Neill's sham LFC jerseys I used to end up with as a kid after the first wash.
Vlad JNR Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 i think that it would make particularly nice beach wear, i have a pair of shorts like that with flowers on, so it may make a nice 'beach set'
Suth Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Pretty reminiscent of many of the appalling kits Adidas forced on us in the late 80s/early 90s.1123142 quite right. the silver one springs to mind. there were far worse kits from adidas in them days. a bigger issue is the global distribution you get with adidas compared to reebok. here in spain you cannot buy a liverpool top anywhere, despite them being on tv everyweek, european champs and with spanish stars in the team etc. You can buy all sorts of nike and adidas kits but no reebok stuff so i put that down to reebok being s*** rather than LFC themselves. right or wrong..
Coyler Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 For feck's sake we should be pumping the jerseys over to Spain these days. One of them will grow up to be a European Cup-standard ref, let us not forget.
Beardsley Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 One thing's for surtain: That shirt MUST be designed by Rick Parry!

StevieC Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 i looked all over barcelona and madrid. fook all liverpool tops any where which is so bad its beyond belief.1123168 I went into Lilywhites the other day on Piccadilly circus and their foot shirts section is massive. We f*cking dominate it with a whole wall given over to Champions League stuff alone. chelsea next with a few racks. Man Utd had one (yes one) ickle rack for all their kits. Nice work Lilywhites fellas. Even if your rugby section is schit.
cymrococh Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 foot shirts 1123181Do you mean socks?
Leo No.8 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 i looked all over barcelona and madrid. fook all liverpool tops any where which is so bad its beyond belief.1123168 Seeing as we are a lot of Spanish fans' second team these days, that is truly appalling.
slapnuts Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I went into Lilywhites the other day on Piccadilly circus and their foot shirts section is massive. 1123181 I got my CL tracksuit top from there

Ronnie Whelan Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 quite right. the silver one springs to mind. there were far worse kits from adidas in them days. a bigger issue is the global distribution you get with adidas compared to reebok. here in spain you cannot buy a liverpool top anywhere, despite them being on tv everyweek, european champs and with spanish stars in the team etc. You can buy all sorts of nike and adidas kits but no reebok stuff so i put that down to reebok being s*** rather than LFC themselves. right or wrong..1123153 I liked that silver jersey.
