Fernando Morientes believes Liverpool fans are starting to see evidence of Rafael Benitez's footballing philosophy coming to fruition at Anfield.

Morientes is a huge admirer of the Reds' Spanish coach and he is confident that, after eighteen months in the managerial hot-seat, Benitez's ideas are now being completely taken on board by the players.

He said: "As a squad we are beginning to realise and notice that his ideas are coming together and coming to fruition.

"He's playing a style which he wants and playing that style with players he wants in that group. It's important those two things come together.

"We are now seeing a Liverpool through the eyes of Rafa Benitez."

Morientes also believes his front line partnership with Peter Crouch is getting better by the game and he admits he's delighted to see his new Anfield team-mate finally among the goals.

He added: "He's marvellous, it's great for me to have him as a team-mate, to play with him up front. He runs all the time, he makes himself available, he wins headers and he's creating opportunities for me to capitalise on.

"I am pleased to be playing alongside him because he does a huge amount of work."

Can't remember any he's actually scored with Crouch on the pitch. The two against Boro were after Crouch had gone off weren't they?

We are still only 70% there according to the man. I wonder what percentage January will add to that?

That was a couple of weeks ago now. We are impriving game by game, Sao Paulo included. We could be at 71.64% now.

We are starting to see us playing more and more like the great Valencia side that Rafa had.

Team ethic and selflessness to the fore, along with proper footballers with a range of skills. I think 70% there is about right.

if this is only 70%, @ 90 - 100% we will be unbeatable, regardless of the riches of the opposition.

the way we offer so much variety in attacks, teams cannot prepare themselves as we are just not predictable.

He doesn't gamble enough. He's right when he says Crouch does a lot of running, wins headers etc. but he needs to start realising that on the pitch and gambling for the second ball. Owen's goal vs Man City earlier in the season for the barcodes was a great example. Three times Shearer tried to put Owen in with headers I think and each time Owen was ready to pounce but managed to keep himself onside aswell before finally finding space to be picked out by Bowyer. Too many times Crouch is winning the 1st ball but we're not picking up the 2nd, but it's getting better. That's why I'd like to see Garcia partner Crouch for a few games.
