Phil236849 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 a message to supporters for patience? does this reflect pessimism that we may have another frustrating window?
Molby Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 it's caution plus a reminder that we can't buy many proven world class players due to lack of funds
DanielS Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 a message to supporters for patience? does this reflect pessimism that we may have another frustrating window?1121241 If frustrating means "not spend squillions of pounds on bIgNaMe PlAyErS" then the answer is yes.
Benitez Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Or maybe they are just saying how important it is to buy the right players, cos it's true No big conspiracy!
Knox_Harrington Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) it's caution plus a reminder that we can't buy many proven world class players due to lack of funds1121248When did Chelsea last buy a proven world-class player? I'd say it was Crespo. EDIT: That's the only time since the Russian came in and that hasn't proven to be a roaring success, despite all the money they have. DanielS Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 it's caution plus a reminder that we can't buy many proven world class players due to lack of funds1121248 ...and that many of them would be cup tied and so useless in the one competition they wouldn't have to get acclimatised to.
Rushian Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 It's also a very useful message to the newspapers
Toni Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 i just hope there are sufficient funds to enable rafa to bring in his most wanted targets. what i find frustrating is that teams like spurs and newcastle who havent won anything in the last million years seem to have more financial muscle than we do.

Bootle Buck Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 They have always said they will only buy players they need at the right price. It's called smart business. As for Spurs and Newcastle buying all kinds of players please see Leeds circa 2001-2002.
CarraLegend Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Or maybe they are just saying how important it is to buy the right players, cos it's true No big conspiracy!1121253 Agreed, f***ing hell. Yesterday Rafa was praised and people were saying "They're only doing it so he doesnt go to Real Madrid" now this and its more conspiracies.
Guest AdamS Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Spurs and Newcastle are not the same animal in terms of how they are funded, nor in terms of their financial health1121360Although Newcastle are now roughly £58m in debt and not qualifying for Europe would be a major concern for them.
cymrococh Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Or maybe they are just saying how important it is to buy the right players, cos it's true No big conspiracy!1121253I think it's more about this sudden PR thing of promoting the creedos of the club.
liverbird04 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 the most interesting thing parry said was to the echo"The Reds chief is remaining tight-lipped on the club's next moves off the pitch, although somewhat tantalisingly he did hint at imminent progress by adding: "I'm expecting a busy Christmas, one way or the other"
David Hodgson Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Sign more small, cheap names like Josemi, Pellegrino and Nunez, and less pricey players (who actually turn out to be good !) like Crouch, Alsonso, Sissoko and Reina.
Molby Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 how about we sack the next person who posts that without 'adding value'?
fyds Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 It's also a very useful message to the newspapers 1121265Is the right answer.
Spike Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Having read both the Balague and Lloret books I have to say that Rafa is the man. So f***ing right for this club. He wants the mentality, the work ethic, the will to adapt to both the cultural and team ethic, as well as the natural footballing qualities. There will be a gem in the rough for every big signing we make. More often than not we will get someone who can adapt to the various systems that Rafa wants to play. One thing that stood out from the Balague book is when Ranieri was asked by a player (after Rafa had left Valencia) how to play. Ranieri responded 'play as you did last season' to which the player responded 'we had five different styles of playing / defending last season' We're not just looking at building a championship winning team but a squad, and that goes through the ressies as well. We honestly don't know how f***ing great our manager is yet. He'll be a legend. For sure.
