chiliking Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I didn't watch the game, but think theres a fair chance the referee and his crew were paid good money by some asian corrupt betting mob guys. We are the world champions, even if there's no trophy, and we lost the game to a side full of cheatin b******s with the ref on their pay roll.
Guest El Boss Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I read somewhere that we boycotted this 'tournament' a couple of times in the 80's. Is that true?1119351 After our european wins in 77 and 78 we decided not to send a team.
Coyler Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Well if Rafa said that, then he should keep his counsel.
Guest JV Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 we weren't cheated at all.1119544sssshhhhh its making me feel better.
Bailo Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 we weren't cheated at all.1119544Seconded. I'm still more angrey about the Chelsea home game in thw CL than this. One bad decision I can count yesterday.
lawrie Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Very unlike Rafa to be so critical of the officials but I guess the emotional strain of it all has taken its toll

Tones Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I felt there was one bad decision. I thought we were unbelievably unlucky but i dont feel cheated.
Boca Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 The only clear cut decision that went against us was Pongo's goal. The other two disallowed goals and the penalty shout were correct in my poinion.
Knox_Harrington Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 we weren't cheated at all.1119544Nope.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 We were cheated. Not only did Rafa say but Garcia was onside.
StevieC Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Lugano should have been off but other than that no reason to think we were done by anything other than poor finishing and an inspired goalie.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) Dunno, the BBC didn't bother showing it again. Or should I say happy jappy clappy chappy director. Edited December 19, 2005 by Jack Bauer
fyds Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 was the challenge on kewell at the end a pen?1119646I thought it was, I must admit.
Guest JV Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I thought it was, I must admit.1119664So did I.
CarraLegend Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I didn't1119697 If it was Drogba or Robben it would of been a penalty?
Cobs Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) If it was Drogba or Robben it would of been a penalty?1119698 If the ref thought it a penalty he'd have given it, i'd imagine. I didn't see a replay of it but it didn't look like a pen first time around. Fact is we should have buried that team, forget the penalty or offside goals we dominated the match, had stacks of chances and missed them. It happens in football - we've seen it plenty of times - last seasons FA Cup Final, us v a*** in 2001 Cup Final....... You don't always get what you deserve in a one off match. Hey ho - we move on. Find it weird but "Hey-ho" each to their own eh?
Mike Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 do you think having a deadly striker would have made a difference in that game?my first thoughts are that it would have, but i'm not so sure now - just wasn't meant to be.

matty Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I find it hard to believe that any game FIFA is involved in isn't fixed in some way. Possibly part of an ongoing keep the South Americans happy campaign because the World Cup hasn't been there since '78 and won't be again for ages. Still not sure why Hyypia's goal was ruled out, Sinama's was fine, and Kewell was pushed over. But I must be paranoid.
