Tones Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Source? Apparently he can play in Europe for Bolton this year, but not Real. (Or Celtic ha ha!). I think that may swing it Boltons way.

Stevie H Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 is this worth a visit to william hill, paul?
RP Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 (edited) He'll probably end up with the Ireland Manager's job Anyway, no idea of the validity of the source - a fella in the office (sensible guy, certainly not a bullsh*tter) seems to think it is all done and dusted, to be announced later today or tomorrow. F'ck knows! Edited December 14, 2005 by RP

You can only play for one team in Europe per season and then you're cup tied as far as I remember.

AE Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Can't believe in can play in the UEFA, once you have played in Europe you are cup tied for rest of the season in all competitions, surely???
Maldini Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 He can play for Bolton in Europe after christmas because they're in a different tournament to the one he's already played in. UEFA changed the rule at the start of the season.

Serko Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 So is the reverse true then? We could sign a player who was playing in the UEFA and he'd be eligible for the CL? As far as I remember yes we can. Kuijt for example
Tones Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I doubt the Uefa Cup is that appealing to him to be honest.1112958 Got to be more appealing than playing away to Cally Thistle and Dunfermline surely?
R A Softlad Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 As far as I remember yes we can. Kuijt for example1113294 Or Vidic.
AE Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 So thats our three winter signings sorted then. Pennent, Kuijt and Vidic.January is goings to be a boring month.

Each club is allowed one signing like this during the transfer window. Know your UEFA Champions League Regulations, sonny. And pay attention to those player threads regarding players in the soddin Inter Toto during the summer.Posts merged:He can play for Bolton in Europe after christmas because they're in a different tournament to the one he's already played in. Maldini Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 So is the reverse true then? We could sign a player who was playing in the UEFA and he'd be eligible for the CL?1113261Yeah, or the Intertoto, the issue came up when Andrade was linked with us before the season started Nope, you can play in a different comp to the one you played in with your previous club. Each club is allowed one signing like this during the transfer window. Know your UEFA Champions League Regulations, sonny. And pay attention to those player threads regarding players in the soddin Inter Toto during the summer.Posts merged:Where did you hear that ?....1113620Read it on UEFA.com, anyway as eoin said, we're making the same point Just for the benefit of those who haven't seen it: Article 15.13 of the CL regulations says "One player from the above quota of three who has competed for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered by 1 February 2006 provided his club is taking part in a UEFA club competition other than the one which his former club is participating in or has participated in the current season. So if we did sign two players who'd played in the UEFA we'd only be able to register one, and if we sign 4 players in the Jan window we can only register 3.
Earl Hafler Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Is he not making the same point as you?1113637 Yes is he but it'll be clearer if you read on.. I then pointed out the word ' knockout ' in section 5.12 of the regulations and you replied " i'll just go away and shut up now " If not you then apologies but the poster definitely began with M and it was one of the regs. You or McBain perhaps.
RP Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 BBC reporting Keane may join Celtic tomorrow with Dermot Desmond paying part of his wages personally.

You were correct Edited December 14, 2005 by Maldini
RP Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 Looks like it's going to happen according to Sky/BBC/ITV.

floyd Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) Just been reported on Radio5, he will officially sign today, subject to a medical. Now, wonder if that knee will hold out Edited December 15, 2005 by floyd
Ostrich Man Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Pure conjecture. There was more to ManUre's title wins than just Keane. A lot more.1115880obviously pure conjecture.....and of course there was a lot more to our wins....but hed have made some f***ing difference to your teams throughout that time...and in my opinion the difference would have given you more opportunities (or AN opportunity) to win the league.
