Anyway, no idea of the validity of the source - a fella in the office (sensible guy, certainly not a bullsh*tter) seems to think it is all done and dusted, to be announced later today or tomorrow.

Don't think that's true. You can only play for one team in Europe per season and then you're cup tied as far as I remember.

Apparantly the qualifying rounds of the champions league is a seperate competition than the UEFA cup so he can play for Bolton in Europe.

Can't believe in can play in the UEFA, once you have played in Europe you are cup tied for rest of the season in all competitions, surely???

So is the reverse true then? We could sign a player who was playing in the UEFA and he'd be eligible for the CL?

Nope, you can play in a different comp to the one you played in with your previous club. Each club is allowed one signing like this during the transfer window.

 

Know your UEFA Champions League Regulations, sonny.

 

And pay attention to those player threads regarding players in the soddin Inter Toto during the summer.

Article 15.13 of the CL regulations says "One player from the above quota of three who has competed for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered by 1 February 2006 provided his club is taking part in a UEFA club competition other than the one which his former club is participating in or has participated in the current season.

 

So if we did sign two players who'd played in the UEFA we'd only be able to register one, and if we sign 4 players in the Jan window we can only register 3.

Aye it was me, the difference of opionion was a bit erm...different though, I said at the time that we could have played him from August and then you pointed out that he could only play from February onwards. You were correct :)

Just been reported on Radio5, he will officially sign today, subject to a medical. Now, wonder if that knee will hold out

obviously pure conjecture.....and of course there was a lot more to our wins....but hed have made some f***ing difference to your teams throughout that time...and in my opinion the difference would have given you more opportunities (or AN opportunity) to win the league.
