philippe Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 He was fined about ?10000 last March for the same thing. Now he did it again last Saturday at Livorno, who's supporters are supposabely known for being left wing... This time, he should be banned forever. Nazism and football should really be kept apart. Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 (edited) does he really believe that shi'ite, or is he just doing it to butter-up the fans? Either way, he should get a feckin stretch for that. c*** In fact - those images should be e-mailed by everyone to UEFA, get them on the case Edited December 12, 2005 by Macca
magneto Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 That's disgraceful..someone shoot the f*****.
nvdm Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I'm not condoning anything, but in Italy, that's a fascist salute - not a Nazi salute. There is a difference.
cymrococh Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 All Nazis were fascist but not all fascists are Nazis? Is this really the place to be showing off your A-Level Political Philosphy? Get a grip FFS! It's reprehensible and should be punished with a year long ban at least.

So get off your f***ing horse, yeah?
Stevie H Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 i used to like di canio when he played here. playing for that horrible club has obviously brought out his true colours. despicable sh*thouse.

Not like he hid the fact he was a facist sympathiser when he was in England, just none of the media ever held him to account on it.
madaboutlfc Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I read his interview and he said he was not racist.. he said he was an proud Italian nationalist and wanted to keep the Italian way of life alive..

So get off your f***ing horse, yeah?1110068But yet there's a clear link between Nazism and fascism. You don't think he knows what that salute means, that it was a Nazi salute?Don't be soft, lad.I remember a quote from Di Canio a while back,"If we're not careful,in ten years,Italy could be a Muslim country." matty Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Ban him for the rest of his career, which hopefully would only be two weeks as I'd like to see someone break his leg in three places, with possible amputation on the cards. There can be no distinction drawn between the Italian fascists and the Nazis in any case. They fought together, they slaughtered minorities together. Neither has any place in football or modern society.

The Hitman Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I think he also knows that most in Italy will see it as fascist salute.1110198Throughout the world, that salute is known as a Nazi (and fascist) salute.Along with the swastika,it's the very symbol of the Nazi regime, the most recognisable salute in the world. You mean to tell me that in Italy, the worldwide significance of that salute is lost on them? Posts merged:Either way,it's disgusting, and he knows full well what it means.Ban him for life.
matty Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 This is Gazzetta Dello Sport's rather pathetic take on it: "Among the good things certainly wasn't the behaviour of a few supporters, or presumed supporters, that in a game strongly at risk there have been identified the usual clashes with the forces of order. At the edge of the North End, occupied by Livorno fans, were moments of tension, ending up with the injury of a policeman, in an eight against one situation. There are also political chants, 'natural' in a game between extreme left (Livorno) and extreme right (Nazio). Di Canio, leaving to make way for Pandev, he [let drop] a "Roman Salute", letting the temprature rise yet further." Rather disgracefully, the words I've put in square brackets are a kind translation of accennare, which also means "to hint at". Going by the picture that's one big f***ing hint.
